I think you misunderstand something here. The "gp" cabal client is a pre-modified client that was designed for a specific private server and not for general use. People only started using it because either they didn't know how to make their own or they preferred to use that server's download links rather than paying for their own bandwidth. This client is also very old now and contains bugs that have since been fixed so if you use it there isn't much point in reporting crashes here.

The recommended client is an OGPlanet 01/01/08 client and Lost-Spirit's patch from the releases section.
