I have few question pertaining to GM .

I would greatly appreciate that you be civil when responding to this thread.

first off i understand having to enable the gmboot in ini and also setting gm in database, How ever your not very clear on few parts i'm fixing to post now

1. the exe that everyone is using no longer allows use of gm commands?

2. I been reading arguments back and forth that gm issue with all using commands is either database or its client issue. (which is it?)

3. is there a true way to enable the command only for Administrators and GM only.

4. besides Gm added to datase base and enable gmboot what else is needed to enable gm commands.

thank you for your time in reading this thread .
I trust that you will take time in answering these questions Politely and Correctly.
If not please donot even bother responding that goes for certain mods as well i have read your responses to threads and post and i must say your attitude about helping needs to be adjusted .

I have opposite question, I hope there is the suitable place to ask for it.

On my server, ALL players can use GM commands (such as ctrl+shift+alt+insert, +delete, etc...) - this is UNACCEPTABLE!

How can I disable the usage of GM commands? Or, as Advocate says:
>>> 3. is there a true way to enable the command only for Administrators and GM only. ?

I am sure, there is a way to do this only on server side, no matter which client will be used. But how?

There is no way to completely limit this. Some cabalmain.exes have been hexed to remove some things but the ctrl+shift+etc is a problem.

The reason for the problem is once again down to the fact we can't edit enc files. Running cabalmain normally runs it in normal mode and takes the IP to connect to from language.enc, running it with the "breaklee" switch (which is what we do) enables internal.txt so we can edit the IP but it also enables test mode (gm commands). We can't enable internal.txt without enabling the GM commands as well.

Running without the breaklee switch you could then set the admin ip and create the cabalmanagerdb account (i *think* that is how it is done) to enable the GM commands, but unless we can edit language enc we can't specify the ip to connect to.

So until we can edit enc files your choice is 1) Not being able to play or 2) being able to play and dealing with the GM commands as best we can.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with this point. The *.enc files are client side files only, there is no any *.enc files on the server.

Suppose we have *.enc file editor (I think, we'll get it soon). Then we would be able to change server IP, merchant lists (aka buylists) and many other cool things.
That would be great, but how is that possible that GM permissions in MMORPG game controlled only by client side? So, even if we would have a client with disabled GM commands, then it is still possible for any skilled cheater to hex our game client and use GM commands?

There must be a way to disable GM commands on server side too...

Also, I have another question on this what is the origin of the current cabal server files? Where are they come from?

correct me if im wronge but isn't enc files just another form of compression sorta like how perfectworld client files are 1 file is decompressed into multi files to be edited then recompressed.

The thing is, what you call a "GM command" such as CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+xx is actually NOT a GM command and is supposedly run client side. It is a test mode, not a GM command. What they do is simply hit through obstacle, increase move speed, disable cooldown, etc etc and it is all client side. Even if you disable through the ctrl+shift+xx shortcut, user can still use the trick using memory editing software.

The real GM commands are those started with "/_" and I believe this is what the topic starter adressed to.
