Is either one of those a rip off? I am buying off bestbuy because my mom does not want me to order computer parts or computers off the internet. She thinks that it's bad luck and Jesus will come down and strike me or something, whatever I don't care. What I care about is that I need a hardcore gaming computer for cheap and people have been saying this is a ripp, I also need it to be form a shop or something that i can pick up form. SO please any suggestions would be grand !

Yes, the 2nd one is great unless you want to use a great thing i like to call... THE INTERNET!
The 2nd one has NO network card, and it comes with no wireless either.

It has an extra PCI slot (also 2 PCI x1 and 2 PCI x16, enough space for a shitload of stuff, especially if you want to make a gaming build) so he can get a netword card from like gigabit or D-link for like 20 dollars, which is still cheaper that the total of HP's firebird

Yes, that he can do, however i was factoring in the part that he has an anal mother. Some (i know from experience) will not allow their kids to mess with computers (which seems to be the case since she did not let him build it himself), and insists on having everything done by a professional. A techy will charge you $150-$200 to put a $25 Network Card into your PC.

I'm not saying to get the firebird, i'm saying to get neither.

The second one DOES have a network card. Base 10/100/1000 have been standard features in all motherboards for the last 3 years. For the last 5 years (or more) every motherboard has came with an intergraded NIC.

I never really trust what any retail store says about their products. Look at AV equipment. They constantly miss label stuff on their site. According to Bestbuy.com my TV is sposed to have 3 HDMI ports but it only has two. Like wise CircuitCity.com said that my AV receiver does not support Dobly TrueHD but it does.

Anyways the VM computer is the better option of the two. But yes you are getting ripped off. You can build a much faster system for less if you order the stuff offline but you cannot do that so you have no options.

NoPeace - out
