Screwed up XP.

Recently I was trying to get my XP totally customized and look the way I want it.
So I got WindowsBlinds, but it only lasted 30 days.
Once I deleted it I didnt want to download another stupid 30 day program, so I looked for other things.

I found something called UxTheme Patcher. It totally patched my uxtheme.dll file in system32. It was awesome.
HOWEVER! It screwed with my WindowsXP and now several things dont work. Mspaint, msconfig, dxdiag etc.

I tried a system restore and I'm scanning my computer with Avast! right now.
Still nothing works.

If anyone can help me out at all I would greatly appreciate it.

There's the problem. I used that once and it destroyed my whole system. I never trust those things, plus most of the styles I use on my XP work without it.

If you can't restore it, trying re-installing the os. That's all I can say because that's what I've done.
Wait for some other responses and see what others say.

my pc is old too, maybe u uninstall mspain in windows components

I use the uxtheme patcher, you probably didn't follow the instructions right, as in you have to wait about five minutes before you hit cancel in the dialogue box that pops up. Post some screenies

Don't expect everything to work fine after you install 3rd party programs which messes with the OS. Sounds like you just accidentally deleted/renamed/moved some files while you were in the system32 folder.

You can try and looking in there and see if you can still find the files, otherwise i'd just recommend a format if your PC is as virus infected as you say it is.

I thin u did not use the right version
uxtheme patcher works perfect but u can unpatch that if u want
