Server just for me

I saw all those tutorials that have a lot of steps, and the most of them are useless for me, because I'm trying to set a server up just for me. I mean is there an easier way to make a server just for me? I'm a noob doing this, and I get lost very often during the tutorial, I get distracted by an ant climbing the window and I use to skip parts of the tut. A noob friendly guide without registration web and all those things for public servers will be very usefull for those who are just courious and who wants just to learn about how to put a server to work in your house, in your own pc.

no. you cant skip any parts really. maybe some like update, editing launcher.
just where it tells you to put your ip, just put this
127.0.0.1
thats all. =P
