ezeral to open a server you must check your upload speed. here in greece the download speed its different from the upload speed. i think your machine its good for a l2off server, so check your upload speed...

Id say, go check for a real server computer. Somewhat like this:

- Dual Xeon 3.2 Ghz/Dual Opteron 2.4 (higher preffered), 4GB DDR ECC REG, Win 2K3 Serv, 100Mbit connection.

With the specs you are having now, you can run a server but i'd say dont run it on a "Game/Home system". Try to look for a server.

@vorobei99 Try to change your CPU and maybe a bigger hdd for the data.

What we are running is an:

- Dual Xeon 3.6 Ghz, 6GB DDR ECC REG, Win 2K3 Serv, and on a 100Mbit.
- Dual Xeon 3.8 GHz, 8GB DDR ECC REC, Win 2K3 Serv, also on 100Mbit.

It costs allot, but u get something in return for it.

as zero said, inufficient HD space, for the rest, its ok, AMD dual core is fine, the Ram is perfect and the Internet connection , in case you are on a reliable host should be ok.

you could easily host 1000-1500 players, but have in mind that the hardware itself won't solve all your problems, you must do any possible optimizations to make the server running smoothly, running daily or even hourly tasks for database reindexing / defrags...

vorbei99, id say about 800 to 1200.

But ismael66, we are hosting our server on 2 computers, meaning that we can host up to 2500 - 3000 ppl. Dont believe me, check [link removed] ;)

Yes, of course 2 computers are better , but in case you are not the millionaire or the bucky guy 1 strong pc should be perfect as vorobei described, i've seen servers hosting 1500+ players on a single machine... i never speak without facts :P

Did you mean , i can host 1200 players on this machine:

CPU - AMD 64 Dual Core 2.2Ghz
Ram - 8gb DDR2 533 mhz
Chipset - nForce 570 ultra
Hard Disk - 4 disks S-ATA 1500rpm 36gb on raid controller (raid 10) 64 mb

you all speak about rocket machines and allien servers... wtf ...

CPU - AMD 64 Dual Core 2.2Ghz
Ram - 8gb DDR2 533 mhz
Chipset - nForce 570 ultra
Hard Disk - 4 disks S-ATA 1500rpm 36gb on raid controller (raid 10) 64 mb
Internet - 100mbit connetion

you can run 2000 players easily! just that u need 2 disks S-ATA 1500rpm 36 gb
- one for the windows and mssql
- one for the server
- and one with 400 GB space for databases

I guess I'll have to run tests when I fly back. I'll see how much ram a default server gobbles up. The old L2 server used to run great with 50 clients with only 1gb of ram and a 2.4Ghz P4 (800FSB). So I'm sure a C6 server shouldn't need more than 2Gb and 1 core of a 2.4Gb 4000+ x64. That will host approx 400 concurrent users? Sound about right?
