I've been doing everything by the book with my little "play arround" server.
But i seam to be unable to solve the login problem, and im thinking its cuz im useing USB tethering and have no way to config it, so i cant open ports etc.

No matter how i config the IP, i get instant "unable to connect".

Any ideas? Besides getting "real" internet, cuz thats on its way :ott1:

I'm not sure how "USB tethering" works, but it sounds like the old Lap-Link idea. I do know that if you can't open ports, then you can't close ports and if you can't close ports there is no problem.

So, lets think logically. Do you get a network connection like any other? Can you get the IP details from IPConfig? If so, the Windows Firewall and IPSec will be operating on that connection (unless you disable them) and ports and protocols will be configured accordingly.

I actually doubt it's anything like that, but still. Beyond that, follow the normal "Why doesn't my client connect to my server" guides I posted and tell us what you learn by doing so.

Finally, why do you not simply use an RJ-45 crossover patch lead? Broken Ethernet NIC?

If you have IEEE1394 (AKA FireWire) on both systems, you can plug a cable in each machine via that and *BOOM*, instant LAN. XD

Im having the same problem, always getting unable to connect. Not sure if SQL is already linked into the server or if there is a special way to do it.. I've tried using MakeAcUs but you can't create a password using that so I'm not sure what to log in with. I made account through SQL but that still doesn't seem to work. I followed every step 100% correctly and went over it multiple times but still no luck. I have no idea what I am doing wrong..

I'll tell you in a moment why this is a lie.

Okay, so every guide 100% correctly and yet you still haven't told us what you learned in or [thread=680573]Why doesn't my client connect to my server?
Part 2 - Configuration[/thread], which is exactly what they tell you to do.

Yoda voice: That, is why you fail.
