Is there a rule not to continue a locked thread, cos there should be. When a mod locks a thread he does it for a reason, not for someone else to open a new one.
Sol was in this case incorrect imo, it's simple, you (Sol) said something personal to him (Nik) and then he flamed you back for it, personally i don't think your message was very nice, besides i think Nik and everyone else is aware of his showing off. 
Anyway this was something personal between you 2, when something like that happens you can't just respond like a member, and use such rules like no flaming mods, that's not how it works, if a moderator gets into trouble then a other moderator should moderate whoever should be moderated, this is to prevent to have topics like this.
The rule of not flaming mods is there to prevent people from flaming a mod for doing his/her job, you weren't doing your job, you were commenting on his actions as a member, and then you shouldn't be protected by that rule.
I have seen other mods do abuse it before, first get into a fight with someone, and then abuse it, you didn't do anything to him, but you mention it, something alone that shouldn't of been done.
Anyway like i said, just let a other moderator handle it, in this case i can understand where you are both coming from, and Nik's reply certainly wasn't within the rules, it's just that your moderator status shouldn't of come in between of this, remember, you need to enforce the rules, not hide behind it.
