Just read the title..lol that explains it all..i read the actual guide thing
but its still too confusin..lol..is there any possible way that some really nice person
would or could create one n like some how give it to me?..doubt thats possible but
if it is could some 1 do that for me?

Installing and running a EI Server is not easy no matter which way you look at it. It requires you make sure all 7 programs are talking to each other on the same IP and port numbers then it requires MSSQL to be install and configured as well as a database restoring etc.

Even if i supplied right now a fully confiured server it wont run on your system. There is tools that help start the server and fill in some of the info for you but yu will see need to configure some of it yourself.

My advice is read this i made -http://forum.ragezone.com/showthread.php?t=34900 it has pictures even - if you cannot follow this then i Suggest you go back to Counterstrike or something because it does not get any easier than that to be honest...

confusing ? yes it is...
the guide is very clear bout setting up the server.. but about the client ???
this is the confusing part... dunno which mir.exe that suit with the server....

hex ?? perhaps i'm still noob at this...
until today i can play into my server, but my client pc is keep on loading.., and it makes me lag like hell.
what the heck is going on i don't know...

The client - well nobody can host this really for general public grabbing - i mean if I hosted the updated client files for example how long do you think my bandwidth would last on my web site? Answer by the way is about 3 seconds...

As I told you before, your best bet is simple, go to LOMCN (as they allow advertising servers), go find a forum of a private server and grab all the updates, your probably looking at another 500-1 gig worth of files depending on how much you need to update. Now personally I dont like the idea of people leeching files when they have no intension of actually playing the said server they get files off, a lot of people who create servers that i know of actually started off by playing a private server, then branching out into creating there own.

You see the problem RZ had when they hosted a MIR3 server, the client was ALWAYS the problem as a full client compressed is 1 gig easy. Now the 1 GIG is fair enough but a hosting site also has a restriction on Bandwidth per month, so it does not normally take long for people to exhaust the bandwidth within days.

Why Struggle creating your own server anyhow? What is going to be different about it that all the other have right now? Be boring playing on your own and there is a handfull at least that are live right now with 50+ people online and fully configured and updated with help from myself on various bits.

well sad Terabyte
i dont understand 2 why there r sooo many tiny online mir3 server around with most of them not even beyond alpha status lol
mir3 playing lives or depends on a bigger playerbase otherwise it will soon get soo boring
i guess the prob is mostly that many peeps get so many ideas for mir3 server and everybody thinks that they must put on an own online server just 2 include their ideas...but what about working with another server team?
I always accepted ideas of others and joined them 2 our server team (Olymp) as they wanted..and thats most obviously the reason why Olymp possibly is the most well developed EI server around and the most longterm 2 ;)

My Guess is thus - people maybe play on a few servers and they either get bored or banned - everybody it seems wants to be GM so they can get to level 50+, have the best gear on and spawn mobs but they forget something very important when they create these servers.........

It requires a machine to be running 24/7 at 100% cpu useage, maybe even 2 machines if you have SQL on another box like I used to. On top of this constant HUM from the machines, the connection you think is so uber suddenly becomes next to useless as anything you do will inpact the server so no voice chatting, video chats or uploading files to your mates via MSN as this will lag the server to the point of stopping it dead.

They also forget that they need to spend a LOT of time adding stuff, going through the bugs and helping players and they struggle with the wrong files and cannot see the NPC or new mobs etc. If they set the exp too high or the Items on Uber stats, then they spend all there time on the forum as people moan daft about how this is too easy, the drops are all wrong (cos everybody is a mir3 expert) and the exp for that mob is not right.... etc....

Eventually they sit back and say - hell wait a minute - this is costing me money and time yet nobody is paying me - so they add a Donation Page / link and no body sends any dosh - so as with so many - its falls off the scope and the server dies - another one down the pan.

My advice is simple - sure run a server, maybe just you and your mates to mess about with, least then you can switch it off and use your connection - a live server feels great - 50+ people online - whoooo - but at the end of the day - all you gain is the knowlege that people play on your rig....
