The goal of the game is to become the strongest, for that you need to get lots of planets and lots of military units. In the beggining you should explore planets, and colonize them, most of planets should be commercial(money) and industrial(units), few of them should goto colonies, agriculture and techplanets. Once you get a good ammount tech(research) points, dont waist them on the first technology you see, instead
wait untill you have enough points to research "CREATE PLANETS"

About the technologies,
Electric Charge: Enable to attack enemy empires with this weapon in TechLab.
Hacking: Enables to hack enemy bank accounts.
Poison: Enable poison attack in TechLab.
Energy Ray: Overloads enemy power plants in TechLab.
Create Planets: You can create planets using energy in TechLab.
Explosives: Enables the sabotage option.
Atomic Bombs: Enables to attack enemy planets using bombs in TechLab.
Ultimate bomb: Enables Apocalypse in TechLab, this is a powerfull weapon.
Enhanced Economics: +25% income
Hydro-Agriculture: +50% food production
Wind Traps: +25% energy
ColdFusion Powerplants: +50% energy
SolarEnergy Drainer : +75% energy
Ion Power Plants: +200% energy
Anti-Matter PowerPlants: +300% energy
SuperNova FusionPlants: +500% energy
Robot-Workers: -30% expenses
Duplication: Enables to duplicate units (each race different) in TechLab.
These are some of technologies, most of them, once you research, you can use them in the TechLab.

About military units,
Industriel planets produce all the units, including ships and MISSILES.
You begin construction Capital ships once you reach 2 million techpoints, if you less then that, your indu planets can't construct them.
Missiles are constructed by Indu planets, but missiles needs to be researched first. Theres 3 types of missiles:
Enigma Missiles: Destroys all types of ships using an EMP explosion, it also destroyes enemy energy.
AntiMatter Missiles: This kill all types of living things.
FluxNova Missiles: This is the most powerfull one, it destroys planets.

To research you need
research points, also called tech points, you gain them
each turn. To get a higher ammount of points per turn, you can either colonize more Tech planets, or train more scientifists and workers (<-- for energy).
In
Technology page, theres two more options,
Research and
Recycle.
Research will give you a specified ammount of extra research(tech) points per turn.
Recycle will take your research points and convert them into ENERGY, you should use this only if nessecary.
