Introduction: Since i've seen almost 2 new peoples everyday asking 'How i pl0x mak serwer?' I decided ( I'm very bored aswell) To make this guide for those that doens't have a clue on where to start.
Those 3 are the most standard items you will need. (Don't worry i will applysome links.
First of all, this guide support MSSQL 2000 only, since i hate 2005 and i love being oldschool. Okay let's start!
You will first of all need Windows Microsoft SQL Server (This is a application that let you manage and create databases, since Muonline need databases to be able to run and store it's you know. Things.)
Microsoft SQL server Download -
Once you've downloaded it, double click the SQLEVAL.exe and it will auto extract the SQL files to your C: disk. Once that's done. bookmark this html page and restart your system. When you're booted and done. Go to your C: drive and you should see a new folder named SQLEVAL. Open the folder and excecute the Setup.exe..
Then choose Database (think it's the Option in the upper left corner)
Then proceed the installtion by hitting continue/next 8 that's (eight times) It will then show "Services Accounts" In those settings use the local system account. Hit "next" again. It will now show you another window. With the login information settings, choose "Mixed Mode(Windows Authentication and SQL server Authentication)"
The default ID (Identification) Will be "SA" Choose your password and remember it, this is going to be your "muonline Database" password.
Now hit next once again, and everything should be fine. Let it continue the installation.
When it's done reboot your system (computer) once again.
Now is the time to deside wich kind of server you want to run.
Their's multiple kind of muserver files. Here are the basic ones:
But, as i'm very generous, I will provide you with different serverfile links!
Note that there's tons of other repacks etc.
Okay, this guide will now continue on the server setup guide. IF you choosed the 97d files - I really suggest u to do this.. You can test those "uber" new files later when you're a bit more experienced.
Okay... First of all you will need a D drive, there's bypasses to use C drive, but i'm stubborn. Get a D drive or try another guide.
1.
Now extract your muserver files into "D:/" So it will end up like
D:/Muserver/"all content here"
2.
Get to know your WAN ip, click here to find out - >
Now In your files you need to edit some basic ip things, in order for other users to later be able to connect to your server.
2.a
First Open iplist.dat it's located at D:/muserver/data
Open it and replace the ip with yours. Hit save and exit.
2.b
Open commonserver.cfg (D:/muserver/data) find all 3 ips located in that file, and replace them with your LAN ip: Default 127.0.0.1 Hit save and exit.
2.c
Now edit commonloc aswell located in D:/muserver/data/lang with your LAN IP: Default 127.0.0.1
2.d
Now go to your CS folder located directly under D:/muserver
Open Serverlist and edit the ip to yours the WAN IP you got from "What's my ip" Hit save and exit, open the data folder (D:/muserver/CS) And edit those 2/3 files located there with ip's init, put your WAN IP there aswell.
2.e
Now when that's done, go to your RankingServer folder (D:/muserver)
and edit the .ini file (svconfig.ini)
It will look like this:
hit save and close. Go back and open the folder "MU2003_EVENT_SERVER"
located at D:/muserver. Open the file svconfig located in the data folder.
It will look like this:
Hit save and exit.... Okay with that done. (hope i haven't forgot something) Go to the folder in D:/muserver named "ODBC" and doubble click the ODBC.reg file there. Then go back and open the "link" folder (D:/muserver)
And right click>Properties link 8 you will find 2 ips in there, change to your WAN IP, make sure you don't make any extra backspace or anything, else it will fuckup. Make this in the link 4 aswell (It's only 1 ip there) And save everything.
3.
You're 80% done! Now open your Enterprise Manager (That's the Manager for the SQL thingy you installed earlier. Press the "plus" in the left menu bar at
"Microsoft SQL Servers" Press the "plus" at server groups, and you now should see sth like (LOCAL) (Windows NT) (Press the "plus" again.
3.a
Then select Databases "Don't press the "+" (plus) Press the text menu "Databases"
3.b
Right click in the white area and select "New Database" Name it Muonline and hit "OK" Do this again but name the other Database "Ranking"
Okay!
3.c
Right click the Muonline database, Choose sth named All tasks, choose Restore database, tick the "Device option" Press select devices then "Add " then the "..." button and browse the file muonline.bak loated in the folder D:/muserver/db baks.
Select the muonline.bak and press "OK" untill you end up to the first window where u ticked " device option "
Press Options tab and tick "force over ext.. Database" And press OK. if no error message do the same thing again, but this time on the "Ranking" databases (choose Ranking.bak instead of muonline.bak this time) and you're basically done... (I don't think i missed any steps
)
Go to the links folder located in D:/Muserver and run all the links in order 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 Let everything load untill you press link 8.
Now open the ports 55901 and 44405 TCP in your firewall. And if no error messages. You're done! You can create accounts using different kind of editors which can be found in the big Release list here - > RZ Release Center
Any other questions, ask them HERE
Make sure you've used the search function first before you ask anything, or you will get banned/infraction/cussed at for sure. Good luck.
Prolouge: By running a server you will need basically 3 standard things.
- A Webbserver
- Windows Microsoft SQL server
- And a piece of muserver files

Their's multiple kind of muserver files. Here are the basic ones:
- Common 97(x) files, the most stable and oldest files that's being used.
- 99(x) One of the first 99 files with the new items and char update (Darklord) these files are however considered very bugged.
- 1.00.8 (Season I) The most stable "season" version
- 1.00.16 (Season 2) Not as stable as Season I, but some files are ok working.
- 1.00.16+(/18) (Season 3) The newest Mu version, and of course the one with most bugs.
I really suggest using 97(x) if you're a newbie. It will help you to understand the most newest version better when you grow as a muserver administrator!
But, as i'm very generous, I will provide you with different serverfile links!
