Hello. I'm posting this for anyone who has an interest in car build projects, in this case a 1989 Bmw e30 design edition (only 200 made).
Recently we've had the urge to make my friend's e30 handle better and add more power. He's not enjoying the 1.8 engine it has at the minute so we're doing something to sort this problem.
List of stuff we have for car nerds who know:
M20 2.5 6 cylinder engine,
Td04 turbo w/ manifold,
E30 LSD differential,
E30 M3 anti-roll bars,
E30 325 prop shaft and drive shafts,
2.5 exhaust twin cat
HKS Coilover suspension.
What's been done,
Full top end rebuild on the 2.5 with painted intake manifold and rocker cover.
Engine, gearbox, prop and diff out.
To do:
Fit the 2.5 with gearbox,
Link the engine loom,
Fit M3 anti-roll bars,
Set up all the oil feeds and vacuum lines,
Fit the 2.5 prop,
Fit the lsd,
And finally fit our turbo.
The 2.5 is 183bhp against the little 1.8 which is a boring 90. However with the turbo fitted, timing advanced and turbo advanced we should be hitting 350-400hp with a remap and decat!
