If you really want to drag up people who've been here from then start, then I, ThuGie, Flex, Genaga all need to be listed aswell. Without us, USA111 would be no where.

Though the history isn't that "complete". It gives a nice overview.

Don't you mean USA111 & Myrax? I mean, if you do google 'Usa111 and Myrax' you will get people asking for help on it. I'm still wondering why Myrax was removed from the server when the original binary releases had it on the title, never understood that.

Except I hear the real MDK just ripped from people? At least that's what Mike, Josh, etc.. have told me about him (I do mean the real one) I always had a feeling he wasn't real though, the dude's been gone all that time, comes out of the blue to get mod on RaGEZONE? What?

'USA111 and Myrax' was the first version 13 server. I guess the reason people just say 'USA111' is because it's faster and easier. i didn't authorise its open source release at the time either, so I just bitched about it too.

And yeah the real MDK did just rip from people, like his version 1 was actually just JoeH's and DeK's that he got his hands on and published.

^ Has a lot of the history. This is the original post Nillus did quite sometime back untouched. It is his view on the history, bear in mind, he didn't experience everything like other users did, so there's obviously things that are missing.

Edit:

If there's one thing I've learned, archive every source. Especially private one's, cause once you lose it, it's gone. Anyway, the sections still fun I think, I just don't like that it's turned into a massive business for most people.

Never read that before. Good reading a bit of the history of this section.

I was never really a fan of 'customs' items because they always seemed to look off coloured or just didn't seem to fit the Habbo look but Tsuka made some amazing customs that just blew me (and the rest of the section away), I think it was @salamander@ who modified Tsukas custom CCTs and made them have interactions e.g. opening a door/gate/garage; he also threw up in depth manual on how to create advanced custom items and I think that helped a lot of people of the years.

I enjoyed the Holograph Emulator projects, every time I would come on RZ there would be like 5+ pages added to the thread - mind you it was the same help questions over and over. I personally liked that stage the most because it seemed like a 'real' open sourced product where a lot of people were involved with the project - obviously the foundation being done by Nillus and then updating it every so often was good.

I wish we completed the RZHabbo project, I was really excited about getting that up & running, AJ had a dedicated server that was running Woodpecker (v3) and I think the only thing at the time that was missing was spaces/camera/games and from the tests that were done on the 'BETA' hotel it could of pulled off big numbers - it had pretty much everything, this section was at it's peak, it's own private emulator with a good developer leading the way and the only thing stopping it from what I remember was the senior moderators from RZ having 'personal issues' with Nillus, something about rubbing one of them the wrong way, and a couple of moderators followed their lead and didn't want the RZHabbo,

From what I vaguely remember MentaL wasn't listening to Moogly about the hotel, and they had an argument, and then Carlos didn't want to work with Mental any more. I think it was like a couple of talks later, and Mental was like get the source and we'll still do it without them, from then I new it was going to fail so I didn't bother with it and asked to be demoted from moderator status shortly thereafter. It just seemed at the time it had everything but the barriers were the senior moderators =/

If there's one thing I've learned, archive every source.
Pretty much every server that needed if I couldn't find in the section or couldn't find a working link - I'd just ask you and have it within half an hour lol.

I think in the thread you should involve more notes about the culture rather than the server history. It'd be good to let current hotel owners know why retros were started in the first place.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been around retros since USA111 was released and took off, and back in those days retros were all about rebelling against habbo. People didn't agree with no swearing, so the retro community made servers where you could swear all you want with no rules. People didn't agree with 20 dollars for 50 habbo credits so then it was made possible to have free credits and design new rooms all you'd like. The list goes on with rebelling against staff, etc etc.

Now if you look at retro development today, the things we've innovated such as VIP, customs, and other features we've created have oddly enough shown up on Habbo Hotel. The tables have turned, habbo is trying to copy retros and be one step ahead and they're running out of ideas to keep users on Habbo. They've merged all the english hotels into one and now all it gets is the same user count that one of those hotels would get single handedly. Habbo's sweating, they're helpless and we've bled them dry of all their resources only to turn around and do the exact same thing Habbo does with corny staff, stupid competitions and charging for as much as you can without getting shunned for it.

I think there's no real heroes of the habbo section because of that exact change when retros turned from a hobby into a business. Why would anyone want to develop software for hotels to just leech for themselves and turn a profit off of it?

What's the point of retros now and why are they trying to copy every single aspect of Habbo that retros used to fight against in the first place?

it's amazing how my only mention I get is for slowing down development by co-operating with sulake, from the paleolithic age to the Dark, Meidival, Feudal Age my name isn't mentioned once. Your view on the history of these emulations is severely lacking.

Additionally, you never talked to MDK. You talked to Bobby, who was pretending to be MDK
