• Unfortunately, we have experienced significant hard drive damage that requires urgent maintenance and rebuilding. The forum will be a state of read only until we install our new drives and rebuild all the configurations needed. Please follow our Facebook page for updates, we will be back up shortly! (The forum could go offline at any given time due to the nature of the failed drives whilst awaiting the upgrades.) When you see an Incapsula error, you know we are in the process of migration.

This is why development stopped.

This "DEV" Community ist just full of leechers and hobby devs with no experience and thats it! The OpenDesert project is well organized but not only 2 persons can fix all of these bugs. No one here besides Kirito and Acharnes was able to update content etc. and Ledy think hes the greatest but he released only things from other ppl or httptrack copied websites!

Nobody here never made own emulator of BDO, few year ago real coders create emu, and was scammed by one of leechers who failed later and shared decompile here, its how ODO and other BDO Emu teams was birth. Nobody need documentation, if u need documentation how to code then buy book and learn. And even guy who create this thread is leecher who use not own made emu without real creator allowance. If you want made something you just need work fulltime and alot time. And usually people who do it can easy work in any AAA studio on top level salary like senior dev positions. Emulator development its a hobby of such devs and its moneymaking way for leechers. So what we see here - leechers want make community around stolen from devs files and invite other devs to participate...sounds shame.

Unfortunately seen this over and over again across a few game server projects - both emu and "black box".

In pretty much all EMU and most black box cases, the project is started by someone that genuinely wants to develop and works damn hard at something that can be used. The problem is attracting an retaining the talent needed to fill in the skill holes the project owner does not have.

When you get a lot of talent people together though, each has strong ideas what they want the end product to look like and ego clashes often happen. If the project does not run the way one of those folks want they either drop off contributing or leave altogether - sometimes taking the unfinished project with them.

Sometimes when trying to attract talent the project owner will make financial incentives available such as a 'cut' of the income generated from the server (usually black box ones). When that doesn't happen in a timely manner you almost always get disgruntled devs sabotaging the project on their way out such as hiding back doors and causing other mayhem on running servers (like giving all players GM powers at login via database functions - seen that - it gets messy).

Running an emu or dev team is something I would not personally do ever again, though I am known to provide minor contributions within my skill range.

Ow meh, senpai here :x

We had running servers + automatic deployments on master merges on any bugfixes... we connected everything to discord so anybody interested could login, report, try to fix. or just try out the server, check client/server messages( for that we could redirect the server output to discord aswell ) so that you didnt even have to start your server to see the incoming and outgoing opcodes whatever..

well nobody did show interest, our donations went down, server was kinda 60€ and some of our maintainers even carried the whole costs from time to time - still it was fun because of the few who did show interest. Personally i also did have less and less time .__.
This game is one of the most beautiful games out there and i still am sad that its being full of crappy people and closed communities instead of collaborating, pulling the code and giving nothing back .. well im repeating everbody else here probably with that point.
