I'm just posting this because I saw this guy's post saying he had Tourettes Syndrome and went to find a bit more about it and saw a video on youtube. Don't tell me this should go on entertainment, it's funny while you watch it but imagine how hard can it be to live socially with it...

This is the quote taken from Post your 10 things people didn't know about you before. thread:

what if you dont know any curse words?

my brother has Tourettes, but its not even close to what people think it is.

What is it then?

Also, Tourette's Syndrome was recognized few years ago. Why didn't people before that time have it too? I believe something we made (food, technology, etc) caused people to have the disorder...

It's a video of his average day or something and he starts of in a library and its a production by the BBC or something and he also just driving along his hitting the mirror and stuff like that.

I suppose that through his day to day life he would get bashed alot for spurting out things when like bullies or people don't know his condition and then they think his talking about them.

Couldn't stop laughing when he randomly goes "Jehovah."

Another bit that I found amusing was when he was talking about how he couldn't play hide and seek.

Tough break though he didn't get to go into army which was his dream.

I'm on my iPod Touch so I can't watch the video but it must be very difficult for that guy to live. I'm very much aware it really affects his social life, I know what it's like. Trust me, ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) is like Tourettes, it impacts my social life.

You can't really compare things in life to this guy's life, I feel really sorry for him. 'tis a damn shame.

that's all i have to say :P

tis remind of one of the episode in southpark

I had a friend once. He had the syndrome.
He cursed almost everyone and one day it went terribly wrong...

He cursed some gang members an evening from the way home from a friend alone.

He got beaten to death...

What's worth having all the money in the world if you can't have a normal social life? Unless the syndrome becomes curable...

I think the syndrome apears cus the parents language wasnt the best when they're small.

And when they grow, they think its fun to say all this, and lastly, it becomes a desease..

Most sufferers get it from their parents, but not the way you're talking about:

What is the Cause of Tourette’s Syndrome? Is it Genetic? Is There a Cure? | Serendip's Exchange

There would be a couple of very big reasons why you haven't heard about people in the (pre-1800s) past living with Tourette's. :arrow_2:

The first is that historically (and even today), people with mental or neurological illnesses are very often marginalised/neglected and become friendless/homeless/hopeless through lack of support, and history doesn't usually record much about the poor, at least not as individuals. The rare exceptions to this rule might include a few members of the royal family where titles & power are inherited and not commonly revoked when the person becomes unfit for the job (hence we get noteworthy accounts of Mad Kings delirious from syphillis and similar).

The second reason you haven't heard of (or found mention of) many cases of Tourette's before a couple hundred years ago is that before then, they called it 'being possessed' and fried, diced, or otherwise hastened the end of such genetically-unfortunate wretches.

:death_2:

Lol, it isnt funny :/

He was a good friend, but wth, he annoyed me alot in the start, until i heard i got the syndrome.

Then i felt sry and i started hanging out with him...

But we werent best friends, and well, almost 2 years ago xD

Nah, the fact that you made up some dumb ****.
