Well It's the talk of the town where I live and wanted to know what you guys thought.

As you call know he left one of the unforgettable performances in The Dark Knight and probably that was his masterpiece.
Many say he deserves the Oscar for Best Actor this year but I did hear that the critics are going to give him a Life Time Honor award but not the Best Actor coz he has passed away..

What do you guys think?
I think this is the least they can do to honor one of the best performances in English cinema till date. They took 40 years to find the perfect Joker and now when they found him, he's gone.

Cheers to Him!

P.S: This thread is solely being made coz am a hardcore fan of Joker in and out.

First of all, he definately deserves an oscar not because he played a great part,
but because he played it extremely well. Probably one of the best jokers ever
I mean honestly, who can pull off a nurse outfit better then him? lol :P

But on a serious note - Best actor of the year you say it is? Definately of the year
but not best actor of all time. Why he would deserve it though, simply because you
cant even tell its Heath Ledger throughout the movie, he literally transforms himself
into another person. That is a true gift.

Uhh yea Im quite a big fan aswell lol
I know one thing though. That is this years movie awards will be just one big dedication.
No problem in that though :P

i just came back from the film and he deserves any award he is nominated for...he really made the part of joker stand out in the dark night.

It would be a crime to not give him the oscar, the role he's played is just perfect and he's made such a great film out of it (from what I've gathered). I'd be surprised if they don't give him an award.

he fcking deserve an Oscar, if he don't receive one, ima fck the Academy for sure lol.

He should get an Oscar for being the best Joker and if he does recieve one, bury it beside him. May he Rest in peace.

Tbh I don't think there'll be much competition for the "Best Joker" oscar...

Just as his film is released, he dies?
What a way to go off with a boom :P

I haven't actually seen it yet,
I don't want to see it, until i can see it IMAX :)

Most people hadn't even heard of him until he died, now there's almost a cult-worshiping.

I was a fan of him since I had watched Sin Eater, though I wasn't "wow omg hes great".

I think it's just 'The In' thing now, to almost worship a dead actor who was in a pretty cool film, even though they've never researched into him, his life, his career, accomplishments and don't even know what type of guy he is.

Meh, I believe there are people who generally appreciate his good work, but then I think the 95% of people who say they love him are being sheepish.

What's the point of giving him one? I respect the dead but why would you boost someones career that is finished? Oscar's are like ''hey you there good actor have this and people will sign you without a doubt.'' The only role Heath can play now is a dead guy, may he Rest in Peace.

hes performance was fantastic thus it deserve an Oscar

I totally agree.

A tribute or lifetime achievement award would be more fitting - oscars and academy awards are for boosting people's careers.

I'll be totally honest I didn't know he was dead. I didn't follow his career but I saw alot of what he did, and he deserves something, but not an oscar, just like CrownC says.

yah we are same
but what a terrible accident happens
after the film released
he dies??????lolzzzzzzzz
he deserves to have a honor and a peaceful rest
hope he will go in heaven^^

I think the problem with things like this is that if he's nominated (is he?) then they are pretty much forced to "give" him it, that's for me reason enough for them to not do it at all. This is not saying he doesn't deserve it for his acting, i've seen a few of his movies (no not this 1 or brokeback mountain) and i liked his acting, still he's dead, it should end with that. Give him a honorable mention or something like that.
