I know this isn't SA-MP but give it a chance. It is amazing!

How to get MTA running the latest version and keeping it updated (Client)​

Here is the list of things you will need. You will notice a few things are the same as SA-MP (well they are both for the same game).

• Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas V1.00 (or any version upto V2 if you install the patch)
• The latest nightly build of MTA (see below)
• The latest data files of MTA (see below)

Step 1 - Installing the game: (skip if you already have GTA: SA installed)
Install GTA: San Andreas from the DVD or a download.
Note: If you chose to download it then you may encounter errors with a reduced size version.
If you do not have Version 1.00 then read Step 1a otherwise go to Step 3.

Step 1a - Downgrading: (skip if you have V1.00)
Download and apply the GTA SA Downgrader Patch.

To view the content, you need to sign in or register

This will allow you game to support MTA (and other mods).
(No images as I have V1.00)

Step 2 - Testing: (skip if you already had GTA: SA installed)
Run single player once to test it loads up okay.
(No images as slug could double click on an icon if it had a hand)

Step 3 - Download the Nightly:
Now we start on the MTA stuff.

Go to

To view the content, you need to sign in or register

and download the latest download.
Note: If the latest build is only a few hours old I recommend going for the second newest one so more servers are supported.

When the download is finished execute the file.

Step 4 - Installing the Nightly:
Click "Next".

(Read the agreement and) Click "I Agree".

Click "Next" again.

Click "Next" again.

If you didn't install GTA: SA in the default location then click browse and select the directory gtasa.exe is in.
Click "Install".

Untick "Run MTA:SA 1.0-r####".
Click Finish.

Step 5 - Installing the MTA data files:
Go to

To view the content, you need to sign in or register

and download "multitheftauto_data-r####.exe".

When the download is finished execute the file.
Keep clicking "Next"/"Agree"/"Install" then click "Finish".

Now run MTA!

Notes:

• Some servers require you to have an MTA Community Account to ban people more effectively.
• When you first load MTA you should configure it to your tastes (for example I use window mode default).
• You CAN have both the nightly build and MTA Race installed at once.
• You CAN run the nightly builds on Vista.
• You CAN use controllers on the nightly builds.

Updating the nightly build​

When you want to play after it has been a day or more it might be worth updating to the latest build.

Step 1 - Prepare:
Close all MTA Nightly applications.

Step 2 - Download the nightly:
Go to

To view the content, you need to sign in or register

and download the latest download.
Note: If the latest build is only a few hours old I recommend going for the second newest one so more servers are supported.

When the download is finished execute the file.

Step 3 - Install the new nightly:
Click "Next".
(Read the agreement and) Click "I Agree".
Click "Next" again.
Click "Next" again.
If you didn't install GTA: SA in the default location then click browse and select the directory gtasa.exe is in.
Click "Install".
Untick "Run MTA:SA 1.0-r####".
Click Finish.

Step 4 - Checking for new data files:
Go to

To view the content, you need to sign in or register

and check if the data download is newer than your old data files.
If there is one it.
When the download is finished execute the file.
Keep clicking "Next"/"Agree"/"Install" then click "Finish".

You now have the latest MTA Nightly Build.

Notes:

• Updating the data files is quite rare so it should be quite easy to spot if they are new.
