I just mash my keyboard on my laptop to show off my skillz to the girls.

errrr if i may point out one plausible explanation for this - these "public places" don't exactly have the best keyboards around do they? they are often quite old and worn. in many cases this causes the key strokes to be especially loud. i actually go out of my way and use the ones that make the most noise cos compared to my quiet keyboard, it sounds like i'm using a typewriter... quite fun.

It depends on the keyboard. Clicky keyboards with heavy action like the Model M are REALLY LOUD, but the newer short-stroke keyboards are pretty quiet. Also, the faster you type the louder it gets.

I try hard to type quietly because I know it irrates me does loud typing. I am trying to get over but it's hard. Why can't all keyboards be quiet O.O

I got used to the soft keys on a laptop and hence started typing softly on the desktop too

No idea why my scapebar creates a racket everytime I press it.

Lol my way of typing is really weird, I only use a couple of fingers but I type quicker then most people with less typos as well.

i only use my index fingers and my middle finger on my right hand. i can type reasonably fast but on a normal keyboard i cant spell. on my laptop i seem to spell quite well.

When I type I normally type loud. So if I did it in public its because I always do it. Plus it depends on what I'm doing at the moment. Typing because of chating or like working. What ever it is makes a difference.


edit: I type with all my fingers at use. They all have places they go to and nother else goes too. I type really fast if you ask me and I don't need to look at keyboard haha.... But like i said its like I'm beating the shit out of my keyboard from what my friends say (on TS sometimes they can hear me if I'm talking and typing).

same here really. well actually if i'm sitting at my comp at home i tend to make more typos cuz of the way i sit, but in general i use only a few fingers and type faster than many peeps i know.

I don't have a problem with loud typing or loud keyboards.. I'm talking about obnoxious typing.. typing the word "yes" and starting every ketstroke with your hand a foot above the keyboard, people purposely typing as loud as they possibly can so that the people around them can hear how fast they're typing. I also just simply type and don't think about it; but the people I'm talking about seem to think "OH A COMPUTER OMG !!!!!1111111 I'M NOT AN IDIOT BUT I BET THESE IDIOTS AROUND ME THINK I AM... SO IM GONNA SHOW THEM HOW LEET OF A TYPER I AM."

And the person who said I need to stop worrying about petty things needs to stop acting like he knows what I should and shouldn't stop doing. I only posted about this cause I was in a boring situation anyway. I had no "important" things to do at the time but pay attention to the people who were begging for attention.
