OK.

I've followed every guide in making a server and I'm stuck with the same problem as i was the last time i tried. My server works perfectly fine when i use 127.0.0.1 BUT when i try with my WAN IP or my no-ip... it doesnt work "Unable to connect to server" is the error message.

I am really not sure what the problem is. I've contacted a number of people who have told me to look at the server files.. ODBC.. config.pk and port forwarding. I've tried port forwarding but it doesnt seem to work...

Can someone please help me because I've read many guides and I am unable to find the problem.
All help is welcome

Thank you for reading, Sorry for my bad english.

Aint it because you HAVE to use 127.0.0.1 when you are trying to connect from localhost?

; Server List
;

(serverlist ( name "test") ( IP "no-ip//wan ip") ( PORT "30001") (config "" "debug") (servernumber 1))
(serverlist ( name "ADMIN") ( IP "127.0.0.1") ( PORT "30001") (config "" "debug") (servernumber 2))

Thats whats in my xlate-e. i can connect through 127.0.0.1 without any problems but the first one says unable to connect to server.

( IP "no-ip//wan ip") is your problem, it'd work if it was a valid hostname on your network, but i'm guessing it's not. Try and change it to an ip or valid hostname.

Start > Run > type in "cmd" > /ipconfig > then get the IP > type "exit" hit enter.

Thats whats in my xlate-e and my port forwarding has been attatched.
I have no firewall blocking ports.
Windows firewall is disabled...
The only way 'I' am able to connect is via 127.0.0.1
BUT when i try to connect via 82.10.###.### it doesnt work.
I've also tried a no-ip and that doesnt solve the problem either.

PLEASE POST ANYTHING HELPFUL REGARDING THIS TOPIC.

it doesnt work because you HAVE to use local host.
only people who arnt on your lan have to use your ip address.
and whats wrong with being able to connect to your server anyways, thats what you want? ^^

Maybe same problem as I have. I never got it to play online with my Home PC.

There can be alot of problems:
- No Static IP (even no-ip etc doesnt help with that)
- Wrong Router Settings
- Firewall on your Home PC
- Firewall on your Router
- Windows Vista
- Windows XP SP2 Firewall block
- Wrong Connect Adress or Ports

Also i just replay what the others sad. If you want to connect from the PC where the Server runs use 127.0.0.1.
If you want to connect from a other PC use the WAN-IP / NO-IP from the PC where the Server runs one.

And maybe some more. So if the posts from the guys over me doesnt help dont waste your time to get it online.

The No Static IP is the only problem in my opinion. Because on my router settings i have a dynamic IP (automatically get IP from ISP)

If anyone can help with that then well and good but I feel that although there are a lot of people that can help... they just do not bother...

If you have any advice that can help me with this then please post it.

And as far as the 127.0.0.1 bit goes... i can connect with 127.0.0.1 obviously because thats local host... but other people who want to play this cannot connect to my pc with 127.0.0.1 because that wouldn't connect them to my pc, it would connect them to their pc.

Windows firewall is disabled so that couldn't be a problem.
I'm using Windows XP SP2 so vista isn't a problem.
I've checked the ports and everything so that isnt a problem.
I've check my ip from so i dont think that is a problem either.

Thank you for reading. Sorry for my bad english.
