Things about the AA EVP..
AA-EVP is an association of people who seek to better understand the nature of unexpected paranormal information that is frequently discovered on recording devices known as EVP or ITC. The purpose of the Association is to facilitate this search for understanding. It does this by providing a way for members to communicate amongst themselves with:

A quarterly NewsJournal
A list of member who are interested in communicating with other AA-EVP experimenters
Access to the AA-EVP Document Archive
Access to the AA-EVP Idea Exchange discussion board.
Supporting research
Maintaining this web site
And, by communicating these concepts to the public

AA-EVP founder, Sarah Estep, included the phrase, "Established in 1982 to provide objective evidence that we survive death in an individual conscious state" at the base of the AA-EVP NewsJournal. Tom and Lisa Butler have been careful to continue this view as the Association's fundamental goal.

Members understand that this "objective evidence" must be based on good science. As such, you will see that great care is taken by the members to maintain an objective view of the phenomena. Yes, the evidence does strongly indicate that the messages are nonphysical in origin; however, members recognize that there are other possible explanations.

AA-EVP Today

Today, AA-EVP members are experimenting with a wide variety of devices and testing many different concepts. The most common experimental approach is the use of an audio tape recorder, microphone and background sound source. An approach that is gaining wide acceptance is recording with a computer, rather than a tape recorder. It is interesting that telephone based devices, such as answering machines are also widely used. Video cameras and computer-based video editing software are gaining popularity as well. In fact though, any device that can record information, be it a still camera or a digital note recorder, is liable to be tried in Electronic Voice Phenomena.

New Tools: Perhaps one of the most important developments in EVP during the past ten years is the introduction of audio and video editing software for personal computers.

In Video ITC, it is now economically feasible to purchase software and a circuit card that will turn a personal computer into a sophisticated video editing tool. One important capability of this tool is the ability to review individual video frames as if they were individual photographs. Video capture into the computer, editing and selective saving are capabilities that make it possible for anyone, even with a very inexpensive video device, to conduct Video Instrumental TransCommunication experiments.
Sound editing software, such as commonly used Audition, permits the use of a personal computer for EVP recording, sound editing, filtering, stretching or compressing of sound tracks, and easy reversing of sound tracks. For instance, the EVP experimenter no longer needs to modify a tape recorder to to play an audio tape in the reverse direction. Also, a background sound is commonly used during EVP sessions when a music quality recorder is used. Sound editing software permits removal of most background noise while preserving the EVP.

Research: Experimenters know that they are recording nonphysical information. Their aim now is to determine how to improve that communication, and thereby, to determine who they are communicating with.

Most members have come to believe they are communicating with people who have transitioned out of physical life.

Some believe that there is a good possibility that the voices they record are little more than information recorded into the fabric of the physical world.

A few think the idea that the messages are nonphysical in origin is all nonsense, and are trying to prove this by determining their physical source.

Of the three most commonly sighted sources for these messages: deceased people talking; echoes of the past; and, a physically explained but unrecognized source, the first is most accepted. Since there is considerable evidence that experimenters are receiving communications from deceased people, this Association maintains a focus on the nature of possible nonphysical worlds.

Grief Management: There are a number of AA-EVP members who are learning to use EVP for grief management. A medium may reassure a person that a loved one is okay on the other side by delivering a message from that loved one. In a similar way, hearing an EVP recording that has a (sometimes) recognizable voice of a loved one speaking an evidential phrase will do wonders for a person who is still grieving a loss.

PS.. Wish me luck on my going..

It is correct that we cannot currently prove that ghosts exist... however we also cannot currently disprove their existance. So feel free to believe what you believe but you might want to try and keep an open mind about it, if you aren't already. For example, if you refuse to believe in ghosts and do something that makes them mad... THEN figure out "Hey! Who would have guessed? Ghosts are real!" Yeah. You probably aren't going to be happy with the results.
