[ WhyDB VS NCDB ] The Great Debate Ascent

Hey everyone i thought i would bring up this topic just to get your opinions. Firstly ill tell you my point of view and the story so far.Please don't get to feisty.

Well To begin , When we went to patch 2.4 was when Ascent went down.He released a final ascent rev that would run 2.4 barley to shut the community up then fucked off and went balls deep with Peyton.At that time NCDB decided to call a quits and announced there retirement from making the leading Database for emulated wow servers. NCDB had a huge and positive reputation and was used by almost everyone and it was a shame to see them go. shortly after we saw the creation of ABD , simply a carry on ncdb that was been very slowly dev'd by the inexperienced.Also at this time we saw the spawning of WhyDB which i myself was stunned to see how good it was compared to ABD. Though still ABD was the most used db simply because people were way used to ncdb and are scared of new things even though Whydb was a lot better by a big margin.So now it has finally arrived to the 19th of July and in my opinion WhyDB really poo's all over NCDB. NCDB left there return to late and when u compare the two over month like i have. Its clear that Whydb is alot better though i think ncdb has better spawns so i just took the creature spawn tables etc... and put them into my whydb lol problem solved. Not to mention NCDB's pathetic and unstable web installer sigh..... Please leave your opinion. :scratch:

That is what it boils down to. Use what you like. Each have strengths and weaknesses. Most people just make their own hybrid by combining a few DBs to get the result they finally want.:technolog

First off I quote from WhyDB's assembla page:

"WhyDB is a ascent (World of Warcraft Emulator) database, based on the last revison of NCDB."

Those are not my words. Those are their own words. NCDB is a global format which means they can be used (for those whom do not already know) for WCell, Ascent (all version) & Mangos. Yeah it's a little tricky to convert, buy easy once you figure it out. Even the Phoenix database is working with them. They have said it on their website as well. Now came into servers/databases not to long ago (around May) when to so called shoit hit the fan with servers and database dying out and starting up. It was rough as alot of players were counting on us. Let's face it not anyone database is going to be perfect. I personally narrowed it down to 3 until this past weekend. They are NCDB, Phoenix and WhyDB. The one I find to have the best informational website is Phoenix (Silvermoon). They are very helpful as they give better information on how to fix things. I still like NCDB as they are getting up to speed. I spent alot of time trying to fix one quest. I went to all the websites and finally found the fix in the WhyDB. I'm sorry to say, it was not right. The fix was to open one out of 15 cages, so basically to complete the quest I had to wait over an hour. I don't why everyone say's they are the best. I'm missing something! Yes, I remember that I mentioned earlier that not any one database is perfect, but I base this on support as well.

I'm going with the NCDB / Silvermoon (Phoenix) connection.

As someone who has now used both, I went from NCDB ( The OLD NCDB, before this BS web installer ), to WhyDB, and went again back to NCDB only to revert to WhyDB. NCDB FEELS incomplete, and I have to say for whatever reason feels sloppy. WhyDB has my support now... I don't think I'll be returning to the NCDB main branch any time soon. They lost me as a user.

Maybe someday someone will create a PROPER WoW database (i.e. normalized), and all of these "spaghetti" databases can go away.

WhyDB is better, but NCDB is more known since they started making db first. when i saw NCDB came back from the grave, i went "Sweet! they're back!" but after a few days i went "C'mon!WhyDB is better, later NCDB. what happend to WoWscape?!Lol hope that server is dead!" all in 1 breath.
