Hey guys... I'm not really familiar with the WordPress system so I was wondering how much customization you can do with it while maintaining the easy (so i've heard) editing functionality...

What I basically need to do is make a website layout much like this:
http://www.elle.com/

For a local magazine (not my client... I wish) and they want to be able to edit everything on it... now I only know CSS and XHTML and minimal knowledge of php so I would like to know if this can be done strictly design coded (CSS HTML) not server side.

So... can it be done with wordress so that it is easy to edit.. if not can u suggest someting

WordPress is a huge open source project. I'm positive you can find a template that somebody already invented to suit your needs.

If you Google: - "Open Source" wordpress templates -, or something of that sort, you'll come up with a ton of results. Since things like wordpress, joomla and postnuke are so popular, you can probably find free templates all over the web.

Edit: Here, view my example.

This is a church website that me and my dad are working on for a client. We got the template from http://themes.livingos.com/

I edited some things via the WP Admin panel such as the main stylesheet to change some images, and to fix the text on the sidebar. The stylesheet is just CSS. The rest of the pages are HTML and some PHP.

Also, google - "Open Source" wrodpress forum -

There will lots of helpful things. Just search the web

wordpress not a very good idea onto copying a site like that...

though possible but would certainly make ur life a living hell.

a CMS like mambo/joomla would definitely much easier to handle

I've never actually thought of gettin a theme lol I was thinkin that I'd code it myself but this saves alot more time and you know what they say time is money lol

anyway i found a great website from one of those links u provided (s-p-n):

http://www.revolutiontheme.com/magazine/

And its virtually wat the client wanted with some customisations ofcouse but now i know that wordpress can be edited so drastically from what i've seen i still wanna learn how to do it.

thanks both of you :D

And the reason i had to use a cms is casue the person the client has to manage the site is a complete retard and it has to be uber S I M P L E lol I've used joomla and i just prefer wordpress it has a nice standard to it in my opinion

Thanks again for the help
I should start up my own business now
