Hello Customer,

This past June's Friday 13th turned out to be especially lucky for
Newegg. We hit and passed the mark of 1 million customer reviews. By
now, you should have received a pleasant suprise in the mail: a limited
edition Newegg cap. Please accept this as a token of our appreciation to
you for writing a product review on this special day.

For more information, please go to:

Thank you for your continued support of Newegg.com!

I only write 4-5 reviews from the day i sign-up till now.

Best,

Newegg.com

Just got the prize in the mail today :)

Thats just spam mail i get it alot.

No its not spam, i actually get the cap from them. The email is from them. Im just lucky to be in one of the 1000th chosen customers.

What were the prerequisites to get the cap? Did you have to write reviews that tons of people found helpful?

Well their reviews just hit a million so they celebrate it by giving out prizes.

I wish they'd give me free stuff. The criteria of what it is doesn't matter all that much... I just like getting free stuff. Especially since I'm ordering around $4,000 worth stuff from them in under two weeks... :(

It is true that the email was not spam. Cause well... I won the hat too lol. How it worked was on June 13th of 2008 Newegg had reached 1 million reviews. So they looked up in the records and started giving out free gifts based on the statistics of that day. For everyone who had wrote a review that day received a free limited edition hat. They had other prizes for like the "1 millionth reviewer" and the "first reviewer ever". There was also a "Most reviews written by a member". Its pretty cool to see such patronage from a company that truly is amazing.

*cries*
I want a hat for reviewing hardware. :(
Just two days ago I put up a review on an AOC PCI slot fan - it really is a nice PCI slot fan. It pushes about 50CFM. When I get my new case in ten days, I might end up hacking it (manually modifying it) to accommodate a couple fans, of the same type as the one I already got. They can push so much air despite being so little. And I don't trust liquid cooling alone to do the job for the amount of OCing I'll be doing on the Phenom 9950BE I am getting (people have been OCing it from 2.6GHz to 3.5GHz on air with no problems - AMD's latest series seems to be dangerous to Intel's, just like their ATI branch is to Nvidia's with video cards, in the way of price/performance).

I hope they send me a free hat... or maybe a t-shirt... perhaps after I have bought all of my computer stuff.
*is a miser who wants free stuff, and feels shunned when he doesn't get free stuff*
:(
