A1 RAM slot not working

My system specs
- Asus Maximus VIII Ranger (Z170)
- Intel Core i7-6700K
- Asus Strix GTX 980Ti
- Kingston HyperX Fury 2x4GB + 2x8GB DDR4 2666MHz CL15

So my issue is as follows. I have my 4GB ram sticks to A1 and B1 slots and my 8GB sticks to A2 and B2 slots. Every other slot works perfectly fine, until I attach a RAM stick to A1 slot. The system at first gives me an error "Memory not installed" but after MemOK check the system starts, but doesn't recognize the A1 slot.

If I attach only 1 RAM stick to the A1 slot I get the error "Memory initialization error. Invalid memory type or incompatible memory speed".

Is there anything I can do to get this working, or should I just assume that the Slot 1 is not working and I should try to return the motherboard?
