yes i have "builded" a computer before, back in 2005 was my last one, my old P4

and is yours an A8 core?

and how do u have 5GB thats an odd amount to have, you should just drop to 4GB of matched sticks to use dual channel if u can, you would see a boost in performance rather than 5GB of mixed sticks

and i will have a P4 3.4GHz w/HT, 4GB of DDR2-667 RAM, 3D1 Geforce 6600GT, and an nforce 4 mobo sitting on a shelf unless someone in the USA wants em, lol, USPS flat rate shipping boxes are cheap, just PM me if your interested.
(whether everything still works i do not know, i know the CPU and mobo still works, i havent had the chance to check the Video Card or the RAM sticks)

About the RAM amount, i know it's odd and i have been thinking of getting 1 or 3GB more of ram, bcuz i don't like tht amount ^^

That still probably won't solve your problem. It's the fact that you've got certain combination of RAM sticks in there that prevent you from running them in dual channel mode.

@Cyco

That's not too shabby I guess. It'll run fine.

i was reading on the X6, and people said its pointless to want to spend more for the higher X6 CPUs, some people are getting 3.2-3.6Ghz OCs on air cooling

i know most people would say just get an X4, but i just wanted an X6 for the hell of it lol, plus it will help when i get further in school, this month i start Programming logic and algorithms class.

im trying to keep the price around $500 for now,

and im not a visual gamer, i usually minimize settings to get more FPS without inhibiting gameplay such as visual distance, so this graphics card will do fine for now

and im upgrading from my laptop 9700M GTS and my desktop 3DI 6600GT so anything i get well be better lol, but i will get a better PSU sooner than later.
