How can I fix this error in my client?

My external_override_variables is indeed placed in /swf/gamedata
Can it be because it does not show the .txt extension for some reason?

Check your web.config / .htaccess file that it is re-writing this correctly

I know this guy, he just made a directory called external_override_variables and made a file called 128312983198273981 (the id) containing the actual external_override_variables with no file extension, and it worked. Lol
