New laptop or PC?

I'm looking to buy a new laptop or desktop... which would be primarily for gaming. Nothing hardcore, maybe just a few FPS and MMORPGs. Everything else would be pretty much basic. I really don't know all the options out there so I'm looking for suggestions.

I don't want a super expensive gaming rig, it needs to be affordable for a broke college student.

Thanks :)

Laptop will be most expensive, and desktop will be even cheaper still if you build it. You don't want that desktop you linked, it's a absolute shitter.

Gimme your total budget and I'll see what i can do for a build. Also let me know if it's just for the tower or if you also need monitor/speakers/keyboard/mouse/ect

- $36
- $60
- $30
- $60
- $125
- $73

Total = $384 with $50 worth of mail-in rebates = $334

There is no hard drive because currently hard drives have DOUBLED in price due to the flooding in Thailand where all the factories are. If you can use the HDD from the PC you're using now, that will do.

It will play all recent games at pretty decent settings.

Then order those parts & take it to your local PC store to build it? They should only charge $50 to build it, find out from them first.

No pre-built PC below $600-700 will have a dedicated GFX card, and the other components will be inferior.

Or go to your local PC store with a list of those parts and ask for a quote for them to order & build it. Usually if it's their own parts and they build it, they'll provide their own warranty.

WoW just upgraded their graphics engine in the last expansion, so you really do need a "decent" card to be able to play it at any reasonable settings.

I would say get that PC you linked and then get a Graphics card to put inside it. would do fine, and it's only $43 after rebate

They did and i would never buy from them, but they have the widest selection and best prices AFAIK. For people who have no issues buying from them i'd imagine them to be the best online retailer?

how did they rip you off?

because i was told to buy from them aswell, but i am now curious about this.

Amazon competes pretty nicely at times :D.
Yea, though they can't compete with Newegg's "shell shocker" sales.

If you're from Australia then you can't buy from them. US residents only, and payment with a credit card from a US bank only.

Quite sure the link you've posted to:
won't be handle WoW.

(Intel graphics card + Pentium) Perhaps a cheap AMD system?

EDIT: Damn, links are screwed? Nvm.

It will do... Badly.

That GPU is so bad, even the integrated GPU on my laptop out-performs it.

If it's cheap then go for it, but i HIGHLY recommend putting in a dedicated GPU. Even if it only costs you $50, it will still be better than what's in there.

Oh, that's funny that you've picked that system:

On my internship we had this desktop from a customer. The harddisk gets intense hot because of the barely room it got and no-fan. Western Digital disk died.

Keyboard:
Razer Lycosa or a G15.

Mouse:
Razer Deathadder or a Logitech one. (G5, G500 or MX518)

I've experienced the Deathadder (sadly broken) and the G15 twice. Now I got a G15 (the 2nd one) and a sidewinder mouse. It's pretty decent.

EDIT: Did you download the latest Nvidia driver from their site? Quite recommend.
