It's contracted for 12 episodes and will at least have an OVA as well.

The 12 episode season format for most shows is to see how well the shows does, if the DVD, BD, and OVA sales do well, generally the show will run a second season.

It's a big gamble for any production company to release an anime and unless there is financial return they'll drop it.
