Unfortunately, we have experienced significant hard drive damage that requires urgent maintenance and rebuilding. both is good to begin with.. well since xp has stop support to its OS you must go to windows 7 it will be much better

Windows 7 or go for windows 8 if you really want updated OS. and if you really want a developing OS. go for windows server.
