The trouble I had is I can't find a Aion 5.1 client anywhere to go with it.

Don't waste time with these files, 5.8 is incomparably better.

I got a lot of errors when I tried to rejoin the archives with 7z

Can you post MD5 or some other checksums for the 9 parts so I can see if one is corrupt?
They all seemed to download fine.
dont join anything just extract first part.
Yep that's what I did the command was 7z e Aion\ 5.1.7z.001
I suspect one of the parts might be corrupt but I don't know which one.
