How to name sessions?

In your php.ini (located by default in your PHP installation directory), look for:

session.name = PHPSESSID

That's the cookie name where session IDs are held.

Remember, any changes to your php.ini require you to restart your web server.

Do you mean something like this?

$_SESSION['sessionname']; // sessionname can be changed.

You can name a local session this way, if you mean this

session_name("derp");

You don't need to, the PHP Session Array can hold as much data as 2 or 200 PHP Session Arrays. Since sessions are implemented in a regular PHP array, it allows multidimensional arrays like this,

$_SESSION['uno']['username'] = "foo"
$_SESSION['dos']['username'] = "bar"

$uno_sess = $_SESSION['uno'];
$uno_sess['username'] //

You shouldn't store 2 cookies for the same visitor's session.

Can you name one valid reason you would want to do that?
