So, since some people can't be bothered to use iis7 or nginx when there are tons of tutorials, heres some basic xampp ddos protection.

Here we go!

(100% effective against DoS attacks, will protect from DDoS attacks with very small effectiveness)

-

To view the content, you need to sign in or register

-password: fizz

-put 2 files into \xampp\apache\modules\

-stop apache pl0x

-open \xampp\apache\Conf\httpd.conf

-Under:

LoadModule autoindex_color_module modules/mod_autoindex_color.so

PASTE:

LoadModule dosevasive22_module modules/mod_dosevasive22.dll

-At bottom of httpd.conf add:

<IfModule dosevasive22_module>

DOSHashTableSize 3097
DOSPageCount 20
DOSSiteCount 50
DOSPageInterval 1

DOSSiteInterval 1

DOSBlockingPeriod 300

</IfModule>

Well, this would give as much ddos protection as iis7 with Dynamic IP Restrictions, there is still room for more protection. This will block the occasional small DDoS (or I should say DoS), but even the biggest sites are vulnerable to large DDoS attacks, I've watched Habbo.com taken down for 30 minutes. But yes, this isn't too strong, but will greatly help others who use XAMPP.

Well, it would 100% be effective against DoS, but to protect an XAMPP server from DDoS, you'd need to do MANY MANY things, this could be one of those things, so this would be PART of getting decent DDoS protection.

But lets face it, XAMPP is pathetic and isn't really worth the time, I am probably only going to use my time to secure iis7 or nginx from now on.

Yes it doesn't work very much
and apache always delete the module line ^^

Tested on WinXP, with 1 guy and 100mb/s
