Hi y'all.

Everytime I visit ragezone i'm getting over on f483 (help section). To see if someone needs help. I am trying to help others. Im not the best flyff dev or somethingelse. Im just trying my best. And I got alot of tutorials on my youtube channel. And trying to make tutorials for the newbies.

Well,
What i'm trying to say is, Everyone who got experience about flyff should help them at f483. I see ShadowDragon42 alot on that section +1 to you mate. It would be much easier for him, if others have time over there to help peoples with their problem. I'am pretty sure Ragezone will get good rumors. If alot of peoples help them.

And also,
The peoples who are going over to f483 (help section) and just posting "use the search button or google is your friend", is only want to high their post amount.

I hop people won't flame or something. I'm just want to discuss about this.

If we tell them to use the search function, we do it cause they should use the search function.

Believe it or not, 90% of the threads in there can be answered with a couple of searches. It's even stated in the rules, that their obligated to search before making a thread. Failing to do so, is again according to the rules, suppose to be considered as a rule violation.

That being said. I used to help out a lot in the FlyFF section, but I ended up extremely gratuitous in the end. The same questions are being repeated, and it seems they only want the solution instead of learning. The help section isn't there only to give them the answer, but also to learn and practice. The help section in the FlyFF section has only become a mess.

I still lurk around in it though, and answers if I find someone who seem to care to learn. Anyhow, I'm considering getting back active at RaGEZONE. I found hope when MentaL wants action in this section. It's needed.

Usually when they say to search for it, it's because it's a question that's been asked and answered many times. I'm pretty sure the rules say to search first, but hardly anybody reads the rules first.

Yeah, I know. Alot of questions has been answered. But someone could make a thread on how to fix stuffs.
Let's take an example..
* Please help me make my server online
* Please help me portfoward
* Etc..
Those questions its alot in help section. What we could do is, collect alot of questions, and post on how to fix them. It would be easier for them and for us.

Newer members seem not to have the intelligence to search.

I see.

I see YyZz, It's kinda borring to answer a questions that you allready did for maybe 1-2 day ago. Well, I just want ragezone to get a good rumors. What we could do for flyff sections is getting more moderators. Example,
ShadowDragon42 <-- A good person.
MisterKid <-- A good person.
You are a good person to YyZz.

A lot of questions in the help section is just total bullshit from people who don't belong here and have no actual interest of helping or contributing with development, which this forum was made for.

If people ask stupid questions like "How do I compile source?" or "How do I add this source edit?" it's because they actually have no idea how programming works at all.
Helping people with compiling source or adding source edits doesn't actually belong in this forum as this forum is about FLYFF development and not the basis of programming and compilers and all that.

If 90% of the people who asked these stupid questions actually took the time to learn programming before they came here, they wouldn't be asking these stupid questions.

Some questions however are really valid, and sure. Even the most seasoned programmers might find a hard time with the source just because of how legacy it is, but they ask valid questions and not "OMG WTF MY SOURCE DOESN'T COMPILE SIR HELP PLSPLSPLS".

tl;dr : Learn how to program before you come here. == No more stupid questions.

Actually, most people come here to learn a little about it while doing something they find fun. Well there are a lot of people who wants everything served on a silverspoon.
There should be a complete faq with all those "stupid" questions since people don'r know how to search.

Actually when someone posts "Search before posting" its mainly because his question was already answered, but hey, none cares about rules now a day I am right? We have 4 options which are:

a) The new user is lazy as **** to search and waste his 5 mins looking for the problem fix?
b) He just want to ask AGAIN for the problem he has and also increase his post count.
c) User has no common-sense to search before making worthless threads.
d) He doesn't know nothing about forums and how to use a Search Engine.

I'll be willing to work on a FAQ, if someone else joins me. Or even better, if everyone joins.

Some could be in charge of it, we send it suggestions and proposal. The guy being in charge of the thread, fixes the grammar and such and release it in the thread. Although I'm not sure if it will help. They will probably end up overlooking it and continue with their threads.

In my opinion what you all guys said here is true. I think there are some ways to prevent such noobish behaviour.

The first one would be forcing to read all the rules of section(flyff can have different rules than other sections) and infract them all for the useless questions on how to use visual studio DAFUQ(a lot of work for moderator).

The second option would be as ๖̶̶̶ۣۜYyZz mentioned to make a thread like FAQ and make it visible even to blind man.

The third option would be to make a section with answered threads which would be readable only and force the people to search in it and if they find the topic with their issue try it. If it didn't work then they should make thread in help section giving the link to already solved problem as the proof they searched. This option would require a lot of work of moderator because he would have to infract all people who wouldn't use brain and search. Also he would have to move solved topics and give them good name so people won't get dissapointed by seeing section full of threads named "PLEASE HELP!" or "NEED HELP CAN'T CONNECT".

Overall asking the help in compiling source should be banned in section since people who release source say that it requires visual studio 2003 + SP1 and people cry in the topic that they can't compile becuase they have INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR -.- which means they don't have service pack 1 for vs 2003 -.-.

@Jomex

Totally agree. We could use more moderation. 3-4 new moderators would be great, honestly. It would help this section back on the foot.

I know regular sections only have 2-3 moderators each, but the FlyFF section isn't a regular section. It's nothing but a mess.

Some should release a vs 2005 version,
which isn't so hard since it only took me 4 hours to convert flyff v15 clean source (means it has no backdoors right?) to vs 2010.
I agree that noobs who ask questions that have been asked a thousand times already should be infracted,
even though I have no idea what an infraction is.
We could introduce a system, with programming questions (which no one is allowed to answer on the forums),
that way it shows that the user knows atleast something about programming.
Also you could make the rules page show at first visit of the flyff section, and only allow the user to advance when some kind of captcha has been filled in.
Also having some huge ass text saying: "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON!" so people will search some more.

@audisbroder I agree about the mod applications.

Someone?

Why can't you just release your 2010 version?

Because visual studio 2010 maybe great for developing,
but once you release your vs 2010 written stuff you will have your forums
(and maybe the ragezone forums) overflowing with people having trouble starting the app since they don't have the vs 2010 redist.

EDIT: I do want to release it for you if want it that much, but vs 2005 shouldn't have any problems.

Well, i do get your point. But private server community consist of two types of developers, People who can develope and people who can't.

The people who don't know coding tries to learn it through private servers since they think it's a more fun way to learn it while those who know coding think it's annoying and that those who don't know coding should learn it first, therefor they refuse to help the beginners.

The beginners will never stop asking on the forum, wouldn't it be easier for the developers who can develope already do teach the beginners with tutorials (NO COMPLETE SCRIPTS) on how to solve their problems?

Atleast that's what i think, i just started to learn vs in school along with C# and asp.net, but not everyone got classes in school that will teach them anything about programing, that's why they ask on forums like this, that's why "stupid" questions appear.

That is an extremely narrow minded statement and an insult to every developer that isn't fluent in computer programming languages. There are software programmers, website programmers, pentesters, 2D graphic artists, 3D enviromental artists, 3D graphic artists, quality assurance, reverse engineers, etc.

My apologise. The thing i ment about coding was overall developing. I'm sorry you wheren't able to think outside the box, ill edit my post.

It's cool you're learning some coding :)
Right now I'm getting teached C# too, and to be honest I hate it.
I completely detest .NET! Most of the fun is taken away, and I feel very limited.
I can't wait to leave current school in a year or 2 and get teached C++ and come back with even more knowledge :D
Anyway, I think in vs 2005 you can still acces the variable created in the previous for loop.
In vs 2010 you can't, so most errors (around 2/3K if I remember correct),
so you have to take the int i = 0 out the loop and declare it outside the loop.
Also you might feel like a machine if you try doing that.
Anyway I used V15 clean source, it has no intential backdoors and has most stuff in it (like the patcher).
