Hi,
I'd like to get some direction on creating a program in either
-VB
-C#
-Java

The Program:
A Standalone basic Web Browser (Flash Capable) that has a built-in SSH Client and Socks5 proxy connection.

Something like a Web Browser with SOCKS Proxy Settings and Putty All-In-One program.

But, I need some direction to constructing such.

I might need direction to some related API's for C# and a few pointers.

The reason being for creating such program is that this web browser serves a purpose by tunneling its web requests through an SSH tunnel (hence SSH Client Protocols).

Any and All Directions Accepted.
Thanks.:laugh:

The structure itself isn't hard.
Its just the code.

Flow Chart:
Code:
Program Load
->
Webclient request to new page (easy)
->
Compile HTML sent back (hard)
->
Render compiled HTML (intermediate)
->Finish loading

That's just a basic web browser.
If you're going to go into CSS and Javascript (aka the whole big taco), it's going to be even more complicated.

It takes groups of developers years to get it right, and sometimes it just doesn't work out (ex. Netscape).
I recommend you find a development team before embarking on this project.

I dont think you understand what im looking for.

I just need to find a basic web browser and build on it by adding components to it. These components and the browser only need to do the following:
-Act like a basic web browser
-Support Flash
-Connect to the via a tunneled connection (SSH builtin) (Hardcodded login credential and dynamic port of 4567)

Basically: ssh -f -L 3000:talk.google.com:5222 home -N

-Support the SOCKS5 Host Proxy connection of 127.0.0.1 on PORT 4567

The Proxifying of the browser can all be done in the background and hardcoded.

The only intention of this small custom browser is to connect to an uncensored internet by an SSH tunnel (making it the only means of connecting) and it would need to support socks5 proxy configurations.

Project inspiration:

without the IM part of course.
An ALL-In-One Program, without needing to see the terminal window

I'd recommend C# or C++ if you're just wanting a small and easy browser with flash capability.

Why?
There are plenty of sources out there for both languages, and it's really not that hard with the .NET framework at all (especially if it has visual editing like VC++ and VC#.)

What? Netscape MADE the internet what it is today. without them, there would be no JavaScript.. Without Netscape, there'd be no basis for firefox.. Oh wait, there'd likely still be HTTP 1.0 traditional, instead of 1.1.... Hmm what does that mean? Oh wait, no CSS, and much heavier mark-up!

The only reason Microsoft has a higher percentage of users with IE is because IE comes with windows, and they made a point to tell computer makers (like dell) that they are NOT allowed to add any rival browsers onto the Windows OS by default. That explains why the EU had to be such assholes to Microsoft in their Anti-trust case,
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/17/business/global/17msft.html?_r=2, which Microsoft lost, so in Europe you might get Windows 7 with Firefox or even Safari installed [Brand new, by default] someday. If it weren't for Netscape, would that be possible? Anyway..

To the OP,

C# and VB have built in Internet Explorer clone browsers.. Those will support flash, CSS, JavaScript, and everything that Internet Explorer supports on the given computer.. It won't work on a PC without windows IE, though.. It's also very frowned upon because it's just a drag+drop sort of thing, that really doesn't involve any skills other than syncing the address bar with the IE box.

One thing, browsers really are huge projects that should probably involve a team of like-minded individuals.. I'd suggest finding an Open Source browser with some development going on, and try to get in and eventually jump in on development.

Making your own browser (that complies with standards) will probably never happen. I mean it could, but what's worth spending years of work for a result that could be achieved by downloading firefox? Nothing is. Improving Firefox would be a much more productive idea, IMO.
