Board Software

So, I've been thinking about it, and I wanna know what you (as a community) think is the preferred forum software. Of course, there's the three big ones.. phpBB, vBulletin and IPB. Typically between these three are some major altercations, whether it be in the way the information is stored in the database, or the usage and improvement of plugin support for the boards.

I've also heard of several other types of boards currently in the room for development and useable without looking absolutely horrid, these would be.. MyBB, SMF and Vanilla. Now, I believe these boards shouldn't even be in the topic, although I spoke with a dear friend of mine yesterday (a web developer with extensive knowledge of PHP and the web-development languages) and he claims that SMF has the cleanest background running board, with the nicest features (though not entirely customizable).

I cannot agree simply out of my pure hate for those childish forums that used to be created under invisionboards "free" services. I've compiled a small list of the perks and cons of each board, and it's to you (your personal opinion), and your newly discovered knowledge to give me a rough estimate on what board YOU find as the most logical to use in a FlyFF-based environment.

Again, thanks for your idea on this.. this should give a couple of the new server developers an idea of the forum software they should be choosing. Keep in mind, nulled versions of IPB and vBulletin are released on the internet, so the pricing is basically optional (plugin support).

I'd go for a free one like SMF, I don't really like phpBB because of the security holes in their past.

IPB/vB are horridly managed. I'd go with XenForo, seems nice from what I've seen.

I've actually heard that, since a couple of the very top games use XenForo, but I still have to look into it more. It's like 145$, and I've heard that the service is absolutely horrid.. but whatever.

XenForo is very nice but the team could improve, The software is only a few years old but I think I'm gonna go with it.

Xenforo is like windows phone. It looks fancy but there aren't enough plugins. XD

I've been using it for the last few months, and I'm getting used to it, but it doesn't have the same support that vB and IPB do.

Indeed Xenforo has tons of plugins and is easy to manage & build on to, I have added tons of custom features to my new forum the above pic being an example of listing your gamertags for xbox, psn, and steam looks much better than the one on RageZone IMO.( sorry I dont have a psn or steam account to show but they all pop up when you hover over the icon clicking on the icon redirects you to the official page for that account )

though this is nothing compared to what you can really do with Xenforo.
