I have decided on my own, I am building a gaming/coding computer. My priority is to have the best graphics and like a 23' or a 25' computer screen (also take in as a lag-free computer most of the time).

I am purchasing everything by Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! and a tower case from somewhere else

Motherboard ---> Newegg.com - ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

Description - I'm going to get this motherboard because, 1. good brand and 2. you can stick 2 video cards in there

Hard drive 1 TB ----> Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar GP WD10EACS 1TB 5400 to 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA-300 Hard Drive - OEM

Description - Going to get this hard drive because, 1. it's cheap = good brand 2. I can store all my applications and a lot of games on it

Processor ----> Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor - Retail

Description - I am going to get this because of the good brand and it's good for gaming

Memory ----> Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Description - Going to get this because good brand and good model

Monitor ----> Newegg.com - Westinghouse L2410NM Black 24" 8ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 500 cd/m2 1000:1 Built in Speakers - Retail

Description - Going to get this because it's one big ass monitor:tongue:

All I need is a power supply, video cards, sound cards and that's it!

No idea where the hell you are getting you "good brand" ideas from.

1. No Seagate is so much better than Western Digital, and it would be better for security and more cost effective to get 2x 500gb.
2. 8ms response for your monitor is kinda... well shitty. Go for a 5 or a 2.

GFX - 8800GT/GTS
use your onboard sound should be fine
imo a 620/850W corsair PSU would be great, getting one next month.

also i wouldn't suggest SD ram for that system. SD is extremely high quality and i would personally only use it on an extreme gaming system (ie quad core with dual 8800gtx). i suggest a much cheaper corsair twinx which would cost you about 1/3 of the price and you will not see any difference.

Seagate better than WD? Oh really :tongue:, for day to day use it's not really going to matter whether he gets a WD or a Seagate though 2x500GB I agree with.

Personal experience - 620W Corsair HX PSU's are brilliant and will power that lot.

Both WD and Seagates are reliable brands (even though I run 6x WD at the moment but none the less).

But I got to ask, why an AMD over a C2D? Any particular reason for that?

My monitor has 8ms and it works great.
It and old Xerox 19" LCD with 800:1 contrast and 1280x1024 res.
IT call XA7 series.

I would also vouch for Seagate drives. WD drives are good but I've just been using Seagate drives for years now and they are always reliable.

I just bought 2x 500gb Seagate drives with 32mb cache for $245 (including 2 day shipping) from ZipZoomFly.

Also I would suggest getting an Intel Core 2 Duo setup as it's much better then AMD dual cores.

And also, I strongly recommend not getting ASUS. They are just too unreliable in my opinion.

As for a video card. The new 9600GT are amazing cards for $200. If you can afford a 8800GT then that would be a slightly better option.

I think that AMD's are more reliable than Intel. Intel has just better technology IMO.

What makes them more reliable?

I had a P4 server that ran for 300 days without fail. I still actually have it in a system here and it's still runs good.

I also have another P4 server here with about 10,000 hours on it and has been running non stop for 3 months now.

I have a Intel 486 in a laptop from the mid 90s and it still runs without problem.

I have a C2D that is over clocked to 3.0ghz and it has ran stable for over a year.

I have a C2Q EE that is also overclocked to 2.93ghz and it has ran stable for nearly a year now and I put it into heavy stress all the time.

Now for my AMD experience...

I ran a 4000+ for 2 year and it was stable.

I ran a 4800+ for 3 years and it was stable.

I ran another 4800+ for 6 months and it wasn't stable (due to the motherboard).

So I really don't see how Intel isn't reliable. I've used them extensively over the years without problem.

Right now we have 9 Intel setups in this house and 1 AMD setup and they all run just fine.

He did say "I think", and not "I know". Maybe based on his previous experiences, I don't think that makes him a fanboi. Don't see how thats different from NoPeace saying ASUS is less reliable, according to his opinion. I worked for a company which used ASUS exclusively, and never ran into any problems.
