Recently, I heard Habbo moderators were made redundant to be replaced by an automatic system that will deal with reports. People have already started making casino rooms, which have been reported but no action has been taken.

What are your thoughts?

Currently on Habbo.com...

Oh they getting rid of moderators. Shows what state this game is in. Wouldnt be surprised if it would close down soon.

Any sources regarding your statements? If you cannot back it up then its just speculation.

I found the image on a rival forum. This might be false, who knows.

Yeah, I've got also heard something about the fact moderators are gone and a new automatic moderation system is introduced. But I don't understand how that must work better then before? You can't fully replace human interaction with a automatic system.

I also think this is saying more about the state of this game..

Except these people from the french hotel weren't moderators... They were actual habbo staff. And even human interaction has been replaced a long time ago by automatic system on habbo. when was the last time anyone properly interacted with a moderator ? They don't do **** anymore, except sending us automated messages. Moderators have been clicking buttons for years. They could easily be replaced. Wish Habbo went back to their old moderation ways... when you could actually get help when needed.

That basically confirms one thing. Pool's Closed. I mean, Habbo is closing... In a near future probably.

The whole Habbo apocalypse started when Ediooti left Sulake and Elisa bought it.

Habbo isn't anymore the same thing. I hope after Habbo dies that the Retro Community still maintain and continues with Habbo Retros.

But in a near future Habbo will doesn't exist anymore and also people will stop playing Habbo Retro. (Since most people get known of Habbo from the original Habbo..)

Maybe the retro community creates a new game deviated from Habbo. Maybe something like PixelSociety.

That's not a confirmed end, but we're going to the end. The end is aiming us.

If Flash is dying, Habbo will. If Habbo isn't working on a alternative like a client in HTML5 which I could understand because Habbo isn't profitable as years ago then it's very sure and then also Habbo Retro's would die.

Like Shockwave there wouldn't be much people who will play it intensive, right? In the most cases it's just for getting some nostalgic feelings back.

But if you build something new that Habbo never did in HTML5 for example I don't think you can still call it a retro..

Lots of people still think that casinos are back and are not longer against the rules. This is wrong and casinos are still banned. The moderators being replaced by an automatic system is true with the only remaining staff for most hotels being the developers, artists, etc.

Because there are no moderators to deal with the casinos, people made them and are continuing to make them. Some of the staff haven't been making the situation much easier. For example, a staff member from .com (Olsoweir), picked up someone's dices, placed them down as his own and joked about taking bets. This made people think that staff supported casinos.

Macklebee has closed quite a few casinos but obviously because he only closed the room and kicked everyone, the room was just remade. There has only been a total of 2 dealers getting banned since casinos opened again. More preventative measures have also been put in place. The word casino has been banned from being in the room name and also searching casino in the navigator will not produce any valid results. It is also speculated that the dice limit for the room will be lowered to 1 instead of 3. Dice functionality may also be removed completely for a temporary time while a more long term fix is found.

I don't think it's very hard to write some algoritm that can detect casinos by giving a rate to the room based on the worth of the average items traded and the average worth of items in the possible casino room. You've still got chatlogs to work with to check if a reported room by an user is probably a casino room.

I was wondering how to find out what's the worth of a rare item and then I've found out they could use the prices of marketplace. They would give the best indication.

Interesting article regarding several Habbo Hotel moderators being made redundant on several of the online platforms that they hold.

I'm quite surprised that they made this move after the backlash they received from Channel four all those years ago.

I would recommend you guys start following similiar HTML5 based games like SiviCITY. They look to be heading in the right MMOCC direction ;)

worst case scenario: Sulake fires all staff (developers, artists etc.) and keeps the hotel up with no moderation or interaction at all, updating their terms of service and continues making money off it. Believe it or not, it's dirtcheap for them to keep the hotels up, but hiring and maintaning with actual people makes it less sustainable and affordable.

But yeah flash will die with time, and so will habbo if they do not go with html5.

Who cares honestly lol, habbo or retros haven't really been getting any new players for a while now (it thas affected habbo and not the retros in a huge way) and the "death" of original habbo will only give the "retro" community more players and thus the continue of the development of habbo, within a community like this one. And it won't surprise me if something HTML5 related gets released that is functional on a wider scale, there are already releases of HTML5 emulators that actually can be used as a base.

People think that .com died because of casinos getting banned. It actually died well before that. Back in 2014, you could tell this was eventually going to happen. They started advertising less and focusing on taking down retros to attempt to get their old players back. Which we can all vouch for, proved unsuccessful. The amount of users leaving Habbo (and retros) compared to entering is far greater and has been that way for a while.

As has been said in this thread, Habbo need to find a new way to attract new and old users back. HTML5 client would be a start but they need to listen to their community again - like they used to back in '10 and before.

Agreed. More player involvement. I mean, they power your game. They should have more community interaction. Jagex made the same mistake and they realised that quite late but they have since then recovered quite well. Listening to what your players want is whats important. And not listening to only the people you're good friends with on HH. Having polls. Maybe even community livestreams or something.

I don't get why people are so against casinos, can someone explain to me. I quit Habbo before they banned casinos because I felt like the community was no longer the one I fell in love with and I really don't understand the amount of hate that they get from a lot of the users who still play. I always thought of Habbo as this hub for users where there are many games going on in one place and the casino/trading community did account for a large part of that hub so I don't get the hate when it was a huge part of Habbo's legacy and possibly success.
