I'm still deciding to buy a cat but it would be my first time having a cat since we only had dogs before. I have a couple of questions to ask first before I'll buy one.

  • What do I feed cats? is it okay tunas in cans or those foods that are like dog foods?

Are cats okay being left in a room? Because they might mess up my carpet or maybe my bed sheets?

Do cats need vaccines or anti-rabies?

Is it okay to have a cats when you have nephews that are ages 5 below?

Do cats smell bad? or maybe cause itchiness?

What supplies should I need to make the cat comfortable in my room? I was planning to have a box as a bed for it...?

What if the cat might be able to escape the house? will it return? or get scared of leaving its home?

Are cat furs or maybe hairs annoying? is it falling alot?

- its up to you if what your cat will love to eat til your pussy grows old .

- i think it depends on your cats behavior. if you teach your cat how to be good they dont mess your belongings . base on my experience, cause i had a cat too when i was a kid. teach them good and they will obey you. just like a dog

Is it okay to have a cats when you have nephews that are ages 5 below?
- i think its bad especially the "ASTHMA" known illness. :D

Do cats smell bad? or maybe cause itchiness?
- why do you need to ask that ? maybe your lazy to take them on a general pet bathtaking ahaha LOL XD . oh sorry its a cat. i think theyre will not smell bad as what you think. and its has a breed right?

What supplies should I need to make the cat comfortable in my room? I was planning to have a box as a bed for it...?
its up to you. depends on your cat breed. if your cat breed price example up to $600, do you want your $600 become dirty and disgusting? do you want your 600 bucks lying on cold cement ahahahaha LOL :D

What if the cat might be able to escape the house? will it return? or get scared of leaving its home?
-- finders keeper! :)

Are cat furs or maybe hairs annoying? is it falling alot?
- depend on how you take good care of them

Honestly not a big fan of cats because after a while your house ( or room especially ) will begin to have an odor and I don't find them to be a mans best friend like a dog. They don't do as much except lay around, lick themselves clean, crave attention, and purr.

Cats are assholes.
They love you only as long as you got tasty food and entertain them.
Only reason I got cats is because of their hypnotic purring...

Generally they are very clean animals and don't stink at all.
Just keep their litter box fresh and preferably keep it in another room.
They are definitely less stinky than dogs.

For cat's diet, here a good one:
What should I feed my cat?

as a treat yes. not all the time. feed them dry catfood jst like you would with dogs.

Are cats okay being left in a room? Because they might mess up my carpet or maybe my bed sheets?

they wont mess up carpet or sheets, but they will tear the **** out of chairs if you don't get them a scratching post. Even a small one will work. Just make sure they have something of their own to scratch on.

Do cats need vaccines or anti-rabies?

yes. In most cities (at least here) it is required that you register and vaccinate your cat, as well as spading/neutering.

Is it okay to have a cats when you have nephews that are ages 5 below?

As long as they aren't allergic, sure. They are far more gentle than dogs at least.

Do cats smell bad? or maybe cause itchiness?

again, only if you're allergic. They don't smell bad at all. Get odor-containing litter for their litterbox and you'll be fine. I use fresh step and I can keep the box in my room without it ever smelling bad. Just make sure you keep it clean, scoop it every couple days at least.

What supplies should I need to make the cat comfortable in my room? I was planning to have a box as a bed for it...?

he wont use the bed lol. More like you'll come in your room and find your cat managing to take up your whole bed, like he expects you to sleep on the floor. Get him/her a couple feather toys and maybe a ball to chase around. Make sure you play with him with the toys to show him that they belong to him.

guess whos sleeping spread out across my bed as I type this... lol

What if the cat might be able to escape the house? will it return? or get scared of leaving its home?

as long as you give him attention they will always come home if they do get out. A lot of cats have no interest in going outside, but a few are door dashers and will get out any chance they can get.

Are cat furs or maybe hairs annoying? is it falling alot?

Keep him brushed and he'll never shed anywhere. Brushing once every two week or so is more than enough for most cats.

Cats can be bitches yeah, but if you treat them with respect you may get lucky and have him/her really bond with you. My cat plays fetch, sleeps on my back when I'm asleep and lays on my desk when I'm working. I used to let him out but now that I've moved and am right on a "main road" I made it pretty clear to him that he can't go outside anymore; he no longer dashes out the door, just tell him "no" and he stops. Really part of that bonding/respect thing.

My cat plays fetch and spends time with me more than my dog does.

If you hate cats because they stink or shed everywhere, you might want to learn how to properly take care of an animal. Just saying.

One more pic, hit the 5 upload cap.

- Cats can be fed many things, although it's best to stick to tins of meat and dry biscuits as their primary diet. When I say tins of meat I mean those horrible cat combinations such as rabbit and turkey or whatever  feeding them slices of chicken and/or ham would be a good treat. My cat loooooves ham!

- Cats do have a habit of digging their claws into things so like Ron suggested, buy it a scratching post. My cat uses the corner of our stairs but we don't really mind to be honest.

- I don't recall having a cat from kitten age but I do believe they require vaccination from kitten age, just like a dog.

- Cats don't smell bad at all and don't leave nasty odours in your house if you keep 'em well kept and clean. They can cause allergies to some people so be careful about that.

- Cats are less intimidating than dogs for a young child but can scratch if the kid annoys it. Just make sure your nephews don't annoy it by petting it in places it might not like e.g its stomach

- A box for a bed? Whilst cats would make a home out of that I wouldn't recommend it. A soft bed big enough for it to wrap itself around in it snuggly is good. Like Ron said you might find it on your bed but if you train it to stay in its own bed then it will. Locking the cat in a utility room in its bed will encourage it to use its bed.

- Depends if it's an outdoor cat or an indoor cat. Indoor cats you might need to be a bit more wary of but generally won't set a paw over the door. Outdoor cats tend to "ask" to go outside when they know where the door is by sitting staring at the door. Make sure you give it attention (and food!) and once its done exploring it'll let you know when it wants back in!

- What Ron said.

NB: When you're giving your cat treats stick to cat treats or like I said, slices of ham or chicken/turkey that you would use as a sandwich filler. Don't give a cat too many human foods as cats can't process the fats in our food and it can kill them.

Totally forgot to mention, if you're keeping him locked up in a room, try to make sure he has vertical space. Places to jump on top of and lay above everything else. They really do enjoy it.

The pic of my cat in the green thing is a mesh shelf you hang from the ceiling. When we still lived there he loved to climb to the top of it and lay in the top-most shelf. The ceiling was about 12 feet from the floor, just to give you an idea of how much they like being up on stuff.

I have a lot of vertical places and cabinets for them to jump if its necessary... I went to a pet store like a few hours ago and they only had siamese cats...

Cats are assholes. They grow up quick and change. When they are small they are so adorable and friendly and just friggin' cute. Then, they _ALL_ turn into little monsters. My cat plays fetch with a little rubber basketball, but you can't ask him to play...he tells you when. There can't be a SINGLE flippin' turd in the box for more than an hour or you'll know about it.

My cat also opens every damn cabinet in the house and constantly breaks dishes and scoots away like a ninja when you're like FFFFFuuuuuu!!! In the middle of the goddamned night he walks accros my piano and when you wake up...he's gone like the flash. The little bastard also chewed up 2 viola's I've left unattended for about an hour...he plucks the strings until they snap/gets chewed in half.

My cat also won't eat cheap food, I have to buy 40.00 cat food at a pet warehouse or he'll starve himself. He eats better than I do ffs...

I'd say don't get a cat, **** 'em. But, I do love mine...so, yeah.

Don't buy one, go to your local animal shelter and adopt one. Black cats get put to sleep more often than non black cats and kittens ALWAYS get adopted, the older cats get 7 days most places. Adopt one!:)

  • What do I feed cats? is it okay tunas in cans or those foods that are like dog foods?

  • I feed canned food as well as dry food. He likes canned food more but I force him to eat dry food as well. Just FYI poop smells worse from eating sea food.

Are cats okay being left in a room? Because they might mess up my carpet or maybe my bed sheets?
Always do your bed. Keep room clean. Having a cat means having clean room.

Do cats need vaccines or anti-rabies?
Yes. Most of them get most vaccines while they are kittens. My other cats didnt get their shots and they were a bit crezy. Vet said because they were missing their shots.

Is it okay to have a cats when you have nephews that are ages 5 below?
I would say yes as long as cat knows how to behave which can be thought to him/her.

Do cats smell bad? or maybe cause itchiness?
Wash it weekly, make sure it doesn't have pests. With that you will be good to go. Combing is also good.

What supplies should I need to make the cat comfortable in my room? I was planning to have a box as a bed for it...?
I have a bed for my cat yet he sleeps on a cat tree or near my legs at night.

What if the cat might be able to escape the house? will it return? or get scared of leaving its home?
At first it will be scared but then it might go chill for a while. It will always come back unless it doesn't like you.

Are cat furs or maybe hairs annoying? is it falling alot?
Comb twice a day and he should be somewhat clean.

This is probably the best thing I did for me and my cat.
But make sure is clear box or there is light inside.
I keep it running 24/7.
You will barely feel the most smelliest cat poop.

But some cats can be scared of fan noise.
