Could someone help me?
Because whenever I save it, elements.data gets corrupted.
Or perhaps an explanation on how to install it—could I be doing something wrong?
EDIT: I am an idiot and thought this was in another thread, so some of my comments are bone-shakingly stupid in context.
So, since that is a bit vague, I will give you some general advice.
If you can give more details about exactly what your problem is or where in the workflow you're finding the corruption, I or someone more knowledgeable can help you.
1: although in theory you can edit your client and server elements.data separately and have it work, this is both unneeded extra work, and presents a vector for failure.
As such, I always recommend you keep a working directory, which has your elements.data (and actually all your files) and only ever edit that one, once you're happy with an edit or ready to test it, deploy it both to your server and your client. This ensures they will get perfect matching copies.
I personally use a windows host for my editing, and in that situation I recomend WinSCP for uploading to your server. make sure preserve timestamps is on (can work without, but better to have it on)
2: what editor are you using, and are you following the propper flow. I've been using RAE (Rody's Angelica Editor) and have had no problems with save corruption, especially since it does a good job detecting the elements.data version. If you're using one of the other common tools, they may not be or you may be manually saving it as the wrong version, and this is your problem.
Obviously given the thread we are in, you are using RAE. And given the RAE copies here, I can't vouch for stability cause I'm still using a version bought directly from Rody's website.
3: Are you sure it IS your elements.data that is corrupted. Sometimes Gshop errors can present in the logs in a way that makes it seem like an elements error. If you are not already using an empty Gshop do so, and making sure client and server are properly synced.
4: and this falls into the realm of dead basic advice you have certainly tried. use the working known good elements.data from a fresh setup. Make 1 *tiny* change, the smallest change you can think of, example change the stack size, or name, or price of an item.
NOTE: if you change the price, make sure it is less than the shop price.
