You're better off making a NPC scripter for starters. I really don't get the point of an IDE that can't find errors and other stuff.

For a compiler you could just have it open cmd using the java -c command

I'm fine with Netbeans as it is, but this sounds like it could be a bit interesting. So it works with projects as well as scripts besides Java (XML, JS, CSS, etc)? If it's light-weight like MS Word and such, I think this could be a pretty good idea. Good luck
