I have been following emu's ALOT, I started playing wow when wowemu didn't even have weapon range working and followed everything to ludmillla, to mangos, to antrix/ascent etc.

But 2 years ago my study required more of my attention and I left the scene. If it's not to much trouble could someone state some of the events that happened since 2007. I read some things about FrostEmu, Trinity (that it moved from mangos but is it that much better or...), arcemu and ofcourse my favourite Mangos

I would really appreciate it if someone took the time.

Well I've been keeping up a bit the past few years. I started during Ascent. Antrix to be specific I think. About a year later, 2008/2009, I came back and the 2 parties were MaNGOS and ArcEmu. Well, everyone I know says ArcEmu sucks and is just stolen code, but I don't know the facts. MaNGOS is really solid. Trinity was formed when some of the MaNGOS devs disagreed with how things were going and decided to do things their way. This is a basic rundown if I'm correct.

So, from what I've gathered:

ArcEmu: Bastard-child of Ascent, not the greatest but works.
MaNGOS: Pretty solid with constant updates.
Trinity: Branch off of MaNGOS, more patches thrown in along with fixes.

So I recommend MaNGOS and UDB/YTDB. Both are updated pretty fast.

I think it appeared then died off. And recently I came across a new program called WCell. It seems completely different from MaNGOS/ArcEmu/DWoW. Databases have changed too.

MaNGOS: UDB, YTDB
Trinity: TDB, UDB, YTDB (with conversion)
ArcEmu: WhyDB, a few others
WCell: From what I've read you can use any database...

Seems to me like, Mangos is the more stable ran Emu but is more hardware resource intensive, and ArcEmu is rather... less stable (more so these days) but requires less hardware resources, overall I picked ArcEmu b/c of the player ratio... However if I had the money to afford a dedicated server w/ 24GB RAM for about 1000<= players, I'd deff go with that!
