What is the relationship between furnidata.xml and productdata.txt?

They seem to contain the same information, yet both seem to be required?

Couldn't find any information about it elsewhere.

Back in the dayzzz the furnidata was supposed to be the texts you see when you click on a furniture, the productdata is the texts of a furniture you see when you click on it in the catalog. No idea if this is still the case.

That sounds plausible. I think cache fuckery was the reason I couldn't find a logical answer on my own.
