Alright, well I'm getting some new parts and I was just wondering if you could tell me your thoughts on the product and if it's any good or not.

I'm getting a new motherboard, more RAM and a new CPU.

This will NOT be my main computer, but I do want it to be decent, so just let me know what you think of the parts and if I can get better for a price close to the current item....

Keep in mind, this is going to be a cheap build but I want for it to be a good bit more powerful than the current build (AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.19GHz, 1.25GB DDR RAM, and ASUS A8AE-LE)

Motherboard
JetWay HI03 LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E5200 2.5GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Dual-Core Processor - Retail

RAM
PNY OPTIMA 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model MD2048KD2-800 - Retail

So, thoughts, opinions?

Why get 800MHz? Just because its cheaper or what? Sorry I just don't understand why get the 800MHz >.<

And yeah I was skeptical about the Motherboard, but I can't really find another cheap one that fits what im looking for :/

Added second build with different mobo and different RAM. Which one is better?

I had an ASROCK, broke on me :(.
But yes stick with DDR2 not 3. Get a CORE 2 Duo E7200, you might get a much better performance for a little bit more.

The Jetway motherboard I chose as a second option does have the P35 chipset. Not sure about the first one but I'm pretty sure I'm not even gonna get that. I'm just going with the second one, I guess I need to edit the first post

I do have a spare one, it's just a 256MB 7300GS...I'm guessing that'll mean some sort of bottleneck in the system, but I cant really spend money on a better one unless I can find a pretty decent one for cheap

Well I got all the parts, It works pretty well for the money, about 400$ in total, I prolly could have gotten more bang for the buck but I honestly didn't do a whole lot of searching.

All parts came from Newegg, was considering getting from Tiger Direct but alot of there parts were higher priced.

So, here's what I got.

It's been running smoothly, I run BF2 (AIX Mod) at High with about 60FPS.

The only complaint I have is the L2 Cache on the CPU and the older Chipset on the Motherboard.

But it's been running well.

I'll get some pics up later if anyones interested in seeing them.

Keep in mind, this wasn't built as a major gaming PC, more of a low end one.

]Well, There are reports of the CPU overclocking to about 4.0GHz.[/B]

Only problem is the L2 cache :/

And celeron's can get up to 5.0ghz, bu they are still a rubbish chip :P

These days the clock speed of your CPU barely means anything, it's all about the Cache and the FSB.

The difference is the E5200 can get there with a decent amount of Cache (2MB, most Celerons have about 512K) and the FSB isn't too low for a low end gaming machine
