Credits to https://forum.ragezone.com/threads/guide-official-guide-on-setting-up-an-ep7-v1-server.771837/ (I used this thread as a basis of how I built my server and guide, I just simplified and revived some links)
Note: This could also easily be turned online, depending on your needs and network/server setup.
For simplicity's sake, use a Windows XP (Service Pack 3) VM, running on VirtualBox.
Downloads:
On your server, install Microsoft .NET Framework 2
Installing Microsoft SQL 2005 Server Express Edition
- Run the installer.
- Uncheck "hide advanced config options".
- Install entire "Client Components" package.
- Select Named Instance, leave name default (SQLExpress).
- Select "use the built-in System account", "Network service".
- Start both SQL server and browser at end of setup.
- Select Mixed Mode auth, specify sa user logon password.
- Uncheck "Enable User Instances", check add user to SQL server admin role.
- After installation, go to Start > All Programs > MSSQL Server 2005 > Config tools > SQL server surface area config.
- Under config surface area for localhost > select surface area config for services and connections.
- Under Database engine > Select Remote Connections.
- Select Local and remote connections > using TCP/IP only, then apply.
- Under Database engine > service > stop and start service.
Installing Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express
- Run the installer.
- Hit next all throughout.
Install the client and the patch.
Create server and client folders on the server.
Setting up the server files
- Copy client data folder to server folder.
- Go to cfg then update all IP addresses on game01-04.ini files to your server's IP addr, also update the database settings accordingly.
- Copy game.exe from server to client, replace one from Ran Online PH.
- Create glogicserver folder in server data folder, then copy glogicserver.rcc in it.
Restoring database backups
- Copy .bak files to program files > MSSQL server > MSSQL.1 > MSSQL > Backup.
- Open MSSQL management studio, login using SQL auth.
- Create new databases for RanGame1, RanUser, RanLog, and RanShop. SQLServer instance > Databases (right click) > New Database...
- Right click created RanGame1 database > Properties > Files > Rename RanGame1_Data to RanGame1P_Data. Then, add new RanGame1S_Data.
- SQLServer instance > Databases > Ran(Game1,User,Log,Shop) (right click) > Tasks > Restore > Database > From device > add and select database .bak file, go to Options > Overwrite the existing database.
Setting up ODBC
- Go to control panel > administrative tools > data sources (ODBC).
- Under User DSN click add, select SQL Native Client data source.
- Name it RanGame1,Log,Shop,User, connect to server RANSERVER\SQLEXPRESS (Server name\Instance name depends on how you set things up).
- Change the default DB to the corresponding one.
Client param.ini
- Open param.ini in client with REditor04.exe.
- Click yes when asked with the useless question (This asks if you want to decrypt to be human readable).
- Edit LoginAdress to point to your server's address.
- Save, then click no to not encrypt.
- Encrypt param.ini with rzcheck (rzcheck is a command-line application). Run rzcheck.exe h to see how to encrypt your param.ini file.
Server launch sequence
1. Session
2. Login
3. Field
4. Agent
To launch game.exe without launcher, create a shortcut of game.exe then change target to: "Path to your\Ran Client\game.exe" /app_run
I hope this helps, enjoy!
