[HTML/CSS] Creating buttons on layout [Help]

I've created my own basic template/layout for my website. However now i need to add css/html to it to make my buttons and links work. how would i go about this, let me know if you need the image.

Slice webpage in photoshop without any text after that, learn how to make div layout in dreamweaver for the template you just created, and import all images and place text according to the template.

so i finally got my site working buttons working ...however it seems to only work in a few web browsers.. i.e google chrome.

How do i make it compatible with all web browsers?

because if i dont think u can see the images i sliced etc.
