Is programming a talent?

I just got thinking one day, is programming a talent or is it just another thing anyone can learn and be good at? Like playing a guitar for example.

I think both because you can pick it up and learn it, but not everyone can pick it up and memorize it.

it's not a talent, but rll not every1 can learn it cuz it takes lots of time to make your skill high enough to call yourself a programmer

i think the talent resides in the algorithm, the process of finding a good and eficient algorithm, but it's not really talent, it is brain power. coding is not a talent imo.

Yeh programming anyone who has the right mindset and enough time willing to expand there skills then you will get there. But the Talent comes when you put the skills you have learnt and make a program or anything really that is big and the public can benefit from it.

I think it can be learn by everyone but a lot of people who do programming dont even know what they are doing half of the time, It takes skill to stick with it and for it to become like a second language to you. Not everyone can just learn to program, a lot of people dont have the time and / or dont have a very long attention span. I myself try to do too much, i try to program in every language possible, i play drums, guitar, piano, I may not be great at all the things i do but atleast i can say i can do them. Thats a skill in itsself hehe, anyway thats all before i go more off topic.

Your right, programming pretty much became a second language to me. Just like you would think to talk, I can think up code in my head if I need to do something. :burn:

I just started to do it, havent really did alot of coding yet. Mainly the chapters I've seen been focusing on the forms, I think next chapter is coding (I've done some coding just nothing that people go "cool" or "wow" too). Today the chapter I read taught me more indebt about forms and about the form1.show vbModal and some other things. (vb6 btw)

I would suggest buying an actual book.. its how I learned I read the whole thing.. it was more of a story.

Anyone can learn programing but not all who learn will good at it. Every person has own talents. Just do things you like cause programer just a job. People who master in programing may be a noob in other things like girl, xxx, bussiness, social,...

Yeah anyone can learn it but its a given if you can understand it. If you cant understand wtf your doing then its not for you. I am one of them people that shouldnt go near programming as I dont understand any of it.

I bow down to those that can because I can only dream of what you all do.

Everything in this world can be learnt and mastered perfectly, with the exception of very unnatural physically things (double jointed, sucking your own youknowwhat etc. etc.).

It is just a matter of time. For some people they are born to be good at it, which means less time has to be spent mastering it. For other's, they are not born to be good at it, which means much more time spent mastering it. It might be much harder for the people that are born bad at it, but if they are willing to try, and have to time to learn it, then they can achieve it too.

well first of all there is no such thing as talent, its just if u do it alot u will get good at it
and if you have a reasonable iq and begin young u can be good everything

as some of you said. i think programming is ,in a way, a talent. you have to learn to code and anyone can do that, but you got to be good enough to build a good algorithm.
it's like playing guitar. not everyone can do it properly... you need to have the feeling for it... which many ppl who call themselvs guitarrists dont have...
