About

MU Classic is not a private server running an old Main with new paint. The whole game, client and server, is rebuilt from scratch on a new engine written in modern C++.

Its foundation is classic MU: every world, monster and item you remember, from Lorencia to Icarus. On top of that come systems classic MU never had: reworked skills on cooldowns, runes and sockets, a raid boss, voiced quests, a player market, a Helper, rebalanced mechanics and scaling, and modern lighting and detail.

It is free to play and runs natively on Windows, macOS and Linux, with no emulators. The open beta is live now and is shaped by its players: play, find what's broken, and tell us.

• Runes and Sockets — Gear can drop with up to three sockets, and each socket takes a rune. Runes come in Rare, Epic and Legendary, and most fire on their own as you fight: a knight's blade can call down Hellfire or Twister, a wizard's spell can echo for free, and an elf's arrow can freeze its target. The rarest is the Rune of Creation.
• Talents — A talent tree for every class: four columns of passives, with a major passive every third node. You earn a point every five levels.
• Elite Monsters — Chrome-plated elites roam every map with no timer and no event. They are far tougher and hit harder, and they always drop an excellent item.
• Item Rarity — Item names are coloured by quality, the way modern ARPGs do it, and the best drops stand under a column of light so you never miss them.
• Powered Jewellery — Rings and pendants roll up to four powers (bonus experience, zen, life leech, fury) plus resistances. Their colour shows how many powers they carry.
• Inspect — Right-click any player to see their gear on a live 3D figure, along with their gear score.
• Go Back! — Port to town and you have five minutes to sell and restock. One click takes you back to the exact spot you left.
• Quality of Life — Jewels stack 20 to a slot, players talk in speech bubbles over their heads, a target frame shows a live portrait, and a Report a Bug button sits right on the minimap.

• Reworked Skills — Every class's skills redone, with new effects, auras and animations; skills sit on Q, W, E and R with cooldowns.
• Raids and Events — The Golden Dragon raid, Blood Castle and Devil Square, Kanturu coming this week.
• Quests — From Lorencia's townsfolk to your second class change, with voiced quest-givers and a quest log.
• Reworked Chaos Machine — Refine gear, craft wings and combine jewels.
• Helper — Auto-play that hunts, loots jewels and runes, and can run a repeatable quest for you.
• Social — Parties, guilds, trade, Local and Global chat, and a Broker market in the cities.
• Modern Controls — Responsive Click-to-move, quick-key potions and auto-drink.

I can’t believe I’m playing this game again after 20 years! MU Classic Remastered brings back so many memories. The improved graphics look great, while the classic gameplay, maps, characters, and dungeons still feel just as I remember them. It’s the perfect mix of nostalgia and a fresh look. Thank you for bringing this game back!
