Hi, I was originally gonna post this in the Coder's Paradise section but it's mainly geared towards Fiesta.
I'm wondering how to initialize a file over the web, like an SHN file in ASP.Net and C#.
Is it just like a desktop application or is there a different way of going about this?
Any leads or anything towards an answer would be great.

Thanks!

Edit: Just realized I didn't post this in the help section. Could a mod move it please

We used PHP with C#.

Ooh PHP. Gonna have to look up how to do that, or how to stream files in general with PHP.
Thanks for your help.

If anyone else has any other help or any other approaches to this it would be gladly appreciated.

By the way. If anyone was wondering why I was asking this question, I'm attempting to make a web based tool and release it for the public.

I kind of lost motivation to continue working on my editor tool, but I really want to learn and build on my skills while taking a shot at this project.

The PHP was used to edit things in database like characters, accounts, etc.
The C# did everything else we couldn't do with PHP.

For example, server message, we had a DLL with the Fiesta functions (which there is a process of steps you have to do to get the DLL to work in PHP). Then in PHP we just did (This is pseudocode...forgot the real code).

PHP:
$dll = dotnet('forgot'); $dll->sendServerNotice($_POST['message']);

The DLL would then do the rest.

As for having an SHN editor in the website, look into Silverlight applications.

When we did this years ago, all the fancy HTML5 features just weren't there yet so as Bakey said we went with silverlight.

Theres 2 easy ways to go about it:

1) Do what Bakey said and use the DOTNET feature in PHP and do all the file reading/writing in a VB/C#.
2) Use a second application in VB/C# that basically is an HTTP web server, in PHP use file_get_contents to call this application and request/return whatever you need.

Thank you both for the suggestions and help! I'll look into all of this and get back with questions or ideas

Quick question. When you say there weren't all the fancy HTML5 features yet, would you recommend using a regular ASP.Net page then, over Silverlight?
