pwAdmin (iWeb) Final Release

thats strange, in ordinary case both outputs (stdout & stderr) should be written in the same file using the '&>' operator
Code:
&> /logs/jetty.log
This worked for me (maybe your bash version don't support this operator?) and only created the file "logs/jetty.log" which is now 250 KB after three weeks without server restart...

Alternative you can write both outputs using this combination of operators:
Code:
1> logs/jetty.log 2> &1

this will redirect stdout(1) to the log file and then it will redirect stderr(2) to the same output as stdout(1)

redirecting both outputs to "/dev/null" isn't a good idea because you'll never be able to find server errors... i don't know why these nohup.out was so large in your case, what was the content of the file only jetty output?

jetty.log was completely empty. It was created but it wasn't writing to it. When jetty starts it would output to nohup.out. I have noidea why it would be that large either and each time it created the nohup.out it would be a different size. The size varied from 12mb up to 3GB on creation. This seems way to big for any log of an app that has just started up.

Ill see if I can redirect the output to jetty.log like it is supposed to.

Any guide how to get pwAdmin working on a windows server and access the PW server via Internet ? I want to have control from @home only and dont want to run tomcat or jetty on mah server itself :D:
I tried to install jetty or tomcat on win 7 x64 but it seems to be not compatible :blink: Or i am too tired for it atm :D:

---edit:---
Ok have tomcat running now. Trying to setup pwAdmin for remote control :D:

Security problem. You will need to let open GameDB, GdeliveryD, and other important ports opened to public ! If you want to run tomcat on your machine instead of the server itself.

Everyone will can connect to your server and change config server!

Becareful with this...

If you want a remote control connection via pwAdmin you have to open the corresponding ports (29400, 29100, 29500, 29401). This means you have to implement an encryption or another security system or anyone else can remote control your server with his pwAdmin. I strongly recomment to use pwAdmin on the local server machine and keep your firewall up...

When i started making pwAdmin i tried to connect to some private servers and i was able to fully control 25% of all private servers (i don't have of course)

True. I didnt think about this problem.
But pwAdmin isnt working on mah server. When i use tomcat, it just shows the logo and the tabs but not the pages itself. When i use Jetty, it shows all but it shows gauth as offline ( and i know its online because i can login and play :D: ), also it cant control anything exept characters. Oh, it can start and stop maps but not the server itself. ( i use beasties files btw. that are started via script. pwAdmin cant start anything here. )
Is there anything i forgot to setup ? Used your pwAdmin 1.5 with jetty server you linked.

tomcat should works fine...

/etc/hosts -> every ip to 127.0.0.1
/etc/authd.conf -> ip 127.0.0.1
/etc/iweb.conf -> ip 127.0.0.1
/etc/gmserver.conf -> ip 127.0.0.1 (not sure if this file is necessary at this place...)
gamesys.conf -> every ip to 127.0.0.1 for each process (some exception for deliveryd that have some 0.0.0.0 IPs and same for glink)
.pwconf.conf -> every ip to 127.0.0.1

It's a good security also, cuz nobody will can bind their tomcat to your server and change configuration...

That's the way i use :mellow:

not need to open others port to control pwadmin via internet, myserver only open port 29000 and can control pwadmin from my home to server :mellow:

My server has no loopback configured :D: only its IP adress that is reachable via web. I already said that strato wont let me change network settings did i ? It jumps back to the old file when i restart the server so i have all set to the IP they gave the server. Strange thing is that with tomcat i just see blank pages when i click on Account, characters, server management etc. and when i use jetty all works fine, just the gauth is not controllable. This only woks with the start.sh script from root ( also its strange that start_full.sh cannot control gauth server and there are no other commands in it for gauth )

I made a pwAdmin's addon that start my server directly with my pwstart.sh script... Cuz the (Server Control) page load every process fine but not the GameDB. Idk why and i'm too lazy to search where the error come from.

Hey, nothing is perfect xD btw

Same for me lol... sometimes gamedbd starts other times it doesn't, Ill eventually figure out why but its been stuck on the back burner for a while now.
