Question about mixing

I seem to have trouble with mixing. I do have the mixing list, and I can mix runes/gemstones fine, hovewer when I try to mix anything else it just keeps telling me -Wrong Mix-.
For example :

Weapon/Armor atk power (+)/def power (+) mixes
top - rune2,rune1,rune3
middle - rune6,rune4
item - 1st stage armor/weapon
result - +def/+atk
cannot fail

I tried to put the staf to the the bottom as well, didnt worked eighter....
Could someone point out what am i doing wrong?

same things happens to me i cant mix, i need my armor in more than 5 it cant be that with the best armor i get kill in once in buddha3, theres no better armor???? im in lvl 92 it cant be that hard.

1st stage does not mean 1st level.

your staff is the 4th stage weapon.

Let me do a little naging lol...
So how is it working? Each gem adds an other lvl ?
I am pretty sure I have tried with a gemless staff and got the same result. Or its like the 4th set of staff weapon (in strenght order)?
Ill go in game and try now.

item - 4th stage armor/weapon

Exact same result. (Wrong Mix) Could you explain please how this stage/itemLvl thing works or perhaps pass me a url?

its to place it on THE ITEM YOU WANT TO MIX , the LAST BOX

I know there is a mixing guide. I have red it.
I did follow the guide (see 1st post), I am keep getting a Wromg Mix msg
Then rain4ever finaly helps, by telling me that the stage1 weapon isnt really lvl1 but 4 (in my case, see picture), which is really nice of him, but he doesnt say WHY is that weapon lvl4 (also tried to upgrade it as a lvl4 weapon with the same result, Wrong Mix)
Someone must know what wrong....
